I've always liked your insights on here, even if I don't always agree. You seem like a smart guy. I'm going to consider this arrogant, condescending horse shite as a one-off and continue to hold a good opinion of you because I think you're better than that.

Jimmy Kimmel is still free to speak his mind, ABC is not required to air it.

You know who would have been against weaponization of the FCC to silence speech through corporate pressure?

You're a fool if you think this has anything to do with the FCC. If the show was making money it would still be on the air. Kimmel has been saying crap like this for years with zero consequences. But lately his numbers have been slipping as the country moves away from the woke mindset. ABC pulled the show because they found a "reason" but the real reason was money. The FCC didn't pull the show, ABC did.

How is free speech cancelled?

It's not the canceling of the show, it's the FCC pressure that influenced the decision which is concerning, just like the Biden admin strong-arming social media companies to censor stuff they didn't like.

100%

People downvoting hate Kimmel and see the big picture. This sets an example of a far bigger issue

Again, what would you have said if Biden wanted the fcc to cancel Gutfeld or the FCC pulled him? You’d still feel the same way, right? Sure

For the record the clip he played was hilarious

Someone asked Trump about grieving Charlie and he immediately points to the construction of the White House and how great it is. lol so ridiculous

Funny is funny

Your TDS has you very confused. Please explain where the first amendment didn't apply in this situation.

The two largest ABC affiliates forced ABC's hand. I am sure they were tired of losing revenue on his time slot and used this as cover

Didn’t they just extend his contract last year?

Seems like an odd move if you were looking for a way out.

Let’s be real here. Sure, what Kimmel said was in poor taste. People have said MUCH worse though and no actions against were brought them.

This was a pure business decision by ABC. Apparently there is some merger deal in the works with their subsidiaries? They’ve probably been looking for a reason for months to fire him in this political climate. This just became the easy trigger. Should he be fired for his comment alone? Probably not. However you frick around and find out. Being a piece of shite for so long puts a target on your back.

That's not what happened. They had spoken about CK for 5 minutes before that. Kimmel cherry-picked 10 seconds out of a 10-minute briefing and misrepresented it.

The clip is at 5:08. I challenge you to watch the whole thing, but we know you won't because that would F up the narrative spoon-fed to you by the media/Kimmel, and you have consistently proven you can't think for yourself.

Nope

Jimmy Kimmel’s current contract with ABC was set to end in May 2026.

The last time it was renewed was in September 2022, when he signed a three-year deal.

Everyone is dodging the question on how would you feel the FCC forced Fox News to pull Gutfeld and Biden celebrated it and wished for every conservative to be cancelled.

Double standard. You don’t have to say anything because we all know how you’d feel

Maybe. But, 1A considerations aside, this is why the administration shouldn't have involved themselves in it. These shows are failing on their own, out in the open. Trump and his officials going to X or Truth Social or whatever and encouraging the networks to fire late night hosts is incredibly dumb, because now they're turning failed comedians into martyrs.

The Biden administration used social media and banks to deplatform people. There is hard evidence that the Biden administration directed Twitter, Facebook, Google, and others to deplatform people.

Zuck himself even admitted that the Biden admin directed them to remove posts.

None of you screamed "muh free speech" then

Because the FCC can pull ABC’s license whenever it wants. The FCC could investigate, determine they didn’t like what Kimmel said, and end ABC and its affiliates almost instantly.

Previous FCC chairs never behaved like that. I’m sure you won’t be upset when the shoe is on the other foot and the FCC chair works for a Democrat

If this is what it takes to make all the extremists on both sides of the table on TV to be more fair, middle ground and honest, then I'm perfectly fine with it. The political bias on both sides has gotten out of control and has been that way for quite sometime. To be fair though, 80% of the media are left wing propagandist so they'll feel the heat the most.

I agree with this.

Kimmel is/was a joke. Few people (mainly progressives) even watched him anymore.

His act was nothing but a childish tantrum because his "Democracy" didnt go the way he wanted it to go

I for one, am happy to see these retards out themselves.
