Unions representing nearly 10,000 Disneyland workers accepted Disney's three-year contract to raise starting hourly wages to $15 an hour beginning next year. The agreement ends a lengthy labor battle over pay at Disney's Anaheim resort.
Minimum wage employees at Disneyland made $11 an hour. The deal immediately raises their pay 20% to $13.25 an hour. The $15 starting rate will go into effect on January 1, 2019. It will go up to $15.45 in June of 2020.
Disney said an employee making $11 today would earn an additional $8,000 a year.
The deal puts Disney on track to reach California's mandatory $15 an hour minimum wage three years before it goes into effect. It covers union workers in Disneyland jobs like attractions, store operations, custodial, costume, and transportation and parking.

The world will use this to increase prices all while keeping their workers at the fed minimum.

I think they deserve it for having to look at 400 pound people in scooters all day. That’s all that goes to Disney world

Businesses can do what they want to do.
It sucks when the government forces things.
If anything, this hurts high school and college kids looking for seasonal work.
$15/hr might be squeezing them further out the door

Well, it's the land of make believe so it seems fitting for them to have artificial inflation.

Fun tidbit of the day:
Disneyland is the size of Disney Worlds parking lot.

Why don't they just hire illegals and pay them 15 pesos an hour

Good luck with that.

I lived in Orlando for 15 years, you'd have to pay me to vacation there. Wife wanted to take my boys back to Orlando earlier this year, she did, and I went to Vegas at the same time.

We are going to $12 per hour in AZ. Crazy that I have to pay part time HS kids $12 hr and give them state mandated sick time. Prices on everything have gone way up, so guess what, that $12 is just like making $8 when you go to spend it. Losing our competitive advantage as a state in the Western region because there is no more cheap labor is going to hurt everyone here in the long run.

But it does not cover the thousands of college kids who go work for Disney for a semester or two through the Disney College Program. Most of those make $10/hr. I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Granted, I know the College Program isn't remotely about making money, but why not just go work seasonally not part of the program, and make $5/hour more?

It'll create a gray labor market where folks get paid cash. Their competitors will feel the competition within the market via their downward pressure on prices and either start ratting them out for misclassifying workers as Independent Contractors or just outright paying cash off the books, or fighting fire with fire.
It will produce a drag on entrepreneurial development on Main Street for certain, and create downward pressure on small business scaling on top of that.
