Got a sales pitch on the cruise I was on last week. It seemed to good to be true.

$195 per point for 150 points a year.
150 points a year is a $29k entry fee.

What’s the catch?

It’s $29K. That’s the catch.

Annual dues $8-$9 a point annually plus the yearly 3% increases. Will cost over 150k over life of contract

I was just looking into this last night and it took me about four minutes to realize it was a way for them to frick me in the arse with Mickey’s ears once again.

I’ll stick to paying regular price once every 3-6 years or so until the kids get older. frick that timeshare shite.

In general, I'd recommend renting points for your vacation. If I was dead-set on buying, I'd probably buy an AKL resale contract for nearly half that price.

I would never pay $195 a point for Riviera Resort with the new resale restrictions.

In a few years you'll be paying that guy on the radio to get you out of that contract. It is a timeshare. Don't do it....

You’re already getting fricked in the arse if you go to Disney that often.

Isn’t once enough?

The real answer is it depends. Do you enjoy Disney? Is that the only vacation you’ll do every year? Will you take advantage of instant access? If yes, then it’s a good deal. I’ve got a buddy that bought in and they go all the time. He’ll watch airline prices and if they get a good weekend they’ll fly out Thursday night and back Sunday night. If that sounds like something that’s your cup of tea, then have at it.

The thing I’ve heard is that you can get kicked out of your reservation from someone who has a higher tiered membership than you do. That’s what I hear sucks the worst about it.

I did the math once I believe I calculated around 12 ish years to break even. But then you also have the ongoing maintenance fee that will always increase over time. They can always increase that if their expenses get tight. That also assumes you wanna do a Disney trip for the next 12 years. If you decide you wanna exchange your points for a different timeshare you’ll pay an exchange fee. I decided that it wasn’t a good deal. I’ll just pay for it each time I go. The financing payment with the monthly fee is like 650 a month for 10 years to have enough points to go like 5 nights a year. Seems like a rip off to me

I wouldn’t, we thought about it and at one time they had nice perks, from what I understand that has eroded. We rented points for the trip we’re on and stayed at Saratoga Springs and it was perfect.
