For Thanksgiving, we won't really have much plans outside of our ADRs and FP+ until probably the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
This year MNSSHP is actually starting earlier than usual going to to the last weekend of August to take advantage of Labor Day weekend "crowds" as well.
Of course they have not announced offical party dates as of yet, but they have announced park hours and there are several 7pm closings.

I used to hate when I'd try hit the record store in the mall on my lunch break or between classes and there would be someone with a yard wide arse wouldn't get out the way.
I guess when you live on welfare you don't have time constraints.

disney world is fatass nirvana
think about it...scooters are plentiful and available, everything is is nice and paved/ramped/accessible, food at your beck & call. it's the easiest place in the world to be fat
a fatass on a scooter at disney is the closest thing we've got to a hovercraft
disney is set-up for fatasses and little kids.
you are just there for your wallet

Seeing a fatty on a fatmobile is one of the most disgusting things I see on a regular basis... Can't stand it,

Left magic kingdom yesterday because of this. It is amazing that people don't want to walk anymore

Yes, epcot sucks only being able to pick track or soaring. We did soaring.
Used all my magic kingdom passes to meet princess. Girls are super happy.
Gave up on the frozen girls. Line was over three hours long. They are sleeping now, while we go to V and A's for dinner. Mother in law is babysitting. Then back to mk tonight

Just got back. Great trip. Met one of the MK park directors. His conversation centered around the bands and fast pass systems.
Confirmed that the next few updates will allow for increases in the number of daily ride and attraction reservations that will accommodate park hopping.
Brought up to him about the need for more charging stations since WDW was essentially making us app dependent. He said they were developing a station that would allow a user to plug their devices into lockable compartments for a period of time.
Tie in to the original post...The best way to see who needs a scooter or wheel chair is to be in the park when it pours. Amazing how many "miracles" occur when the rain starts. People jump and run pretty quick.
Also, the scooter folk are starting to get brazen. Plowing through slow moving crowds, parking wherever, camping out in aisles, etc.

We are going for thanksgiving. Hoping my in laws don't come. My MIL will be wanting a scooter before she gets out the car.

But I get the point of this thread. Lots of people are lazy and take advantage. TBH, I loved riding the mine train with her because we could go right to the front. But then again, I go mostly in January when the crowds are smaller and there isn't much use for it anyway.

I saw plenty of people who needed a scooter to enjoy the park because of age or injury.
We averaged around 10 miles per day, which doesn't account for the time standing. Those folks needed the scooters.
However, the abuse by the lazy brigade is just appalling. I am not slim by any means, but I do know that if my butt was too out of shape to handle walking 1 mile, let alone 10.....I sure as hell wouldn't be rolling through adventure land sucking down dole whips.

There were even a few scooters on the Disney Cruise ship we took last week. They park them in the corridors outside of their rooms which in my opinion is a major hazzard to egress through those corridors in the case of an emergency.
But I saw a few of them up on the pool deck between the burger bar and the soft serve bar. Not that I didn't knock the bottom out of both myself, but I'm under 190 lbs and plan to stay that way.

quote:Damn. 2 of our last 3 trips have been for the marathon in Jan. so we had our Garmin watches on and averaged about 4. Epcot was 6. We're going again in 2015 for the "Dopey" challenge and will be taking things lightly during race days.
We averaged around 10 miles per day,
Hope you enjoyed it.

It should be a legally enforced requirement that fat people are shamed at all times.

I'll say that the scooter brigade seemed to be less in force while I was there (got back today).. The fp+ is going to be a "gamechanger" and will lead to extreme efficiency once all the kinks are worked out.. If they can get all the resort people plotting out their days, the lines will be smooth and people dispersed accordingly throughout the park. A win for everybody visiting the park. The app is a little wonky at times but when working, kicks arse.. We were able to change fast passes as priorities and needs changed each day.

I agree. Even when the network was lagging, it was still fixed quickly and you could adjust on the fly. The plus system will allow those who advance plan to significantly lessen the stresses/ stressors of going to Disney.

I was tracking with fit bit. I cross checked with the disney app (distance to next attraction) and it was fairly accurate.
Also, we stay at BLT and walked to and from MK whenever possible. That and the new system allowed us to really take advantage of attractions with low wait times, even if it meant a stroll to get there.
Plus, we just really enjoy being in the parks, walking around while people / scooter watching.

I haven't seen much of this at Disneyland in Anaheim. Pretty rare to see orca at around here.
