If you have to ask this group of chuckleheads whether or not you should avoid large crowds when there's an airborne respiratory illness going around that has a rather small chance of killing you, then maybe we just let Darwin take the wheel and see what happens.
Also, bring back a turkey leg for me.

No
But I and the family do get sick everytime I return from Disney with all the germs on all those rides you touch all day everyday
Bring you some hand wipes to use especially before and after you eat and for trips to bathroom, that should be enough

any hesitations traveling there next week with the CV now showing up in Florida ?
Is anyone in your family immunocompromised? CV, like the flu, is really only a serious concern to the already-sick, the elderly, and those from vitamin-deficient/malnourished regions of the world. I’m guessing if you can afford Disney World then you’re lacking neither enough food nor enough basic vitamins to be healthy.
Wash your hands after you shite and before you eat, don’t lick any door handles, then you should be just fine.

Make damn sure to ramp up the hand washing. Especially before eating anything.
That should be regular practice.

Serious question and I hope I would get a serious answer but we have a trip planned to Disney World next week. Would you have any hesitations traveling there next week with the CV now showing up in Florida ? We are driving not flying.
In the exact same boat and don't plan on cancelling.

We were there last wk as well and I started running a fever Wed night. Cough and head congestion. I think I’m on the downhill side of it as I felt good enough to do yard work yesterday. However my daughter had to stay home from school today because of it. Wife also was feeling bad yesterday.

I never had a fever but felt like I was going to throw up two nights in a row, severe head congestion, and cough as well. Like you, I started feeling good enough to do yard work yesterday as well. Hopefully my pregnant wife doesn’t catch whatever it is.
eta: it’s funny how many LSU shirts & hats you see there during Mardi Gras week. I felt like I was at an LSU tailgate the whole week
. Also gave props to a guy wearing a “Keep America Great” hat there. That’s risky to do in public so I had to let him know I approved.

Just make sure to frequently wash hands (carry some hand sanitizer into the park if possible), tell kids not to touch their faces without first washing hands, avoid any obviously sick people and you should be fine. Also, avoid taking any elderly persons with you.
These are things to do even just to avoid the flu, stomach bugs, etc.

Just got back from Disneyland and Universal, there were quite a few, mostly Asians, walking around the parks with masks on.

Are you worried and taking special precautions against the Flu and norovirus too? Because you’re infinitely more likely to get that at Disney than corona virus.
Enjoy your damn vacation.

I will say that last week, when I was there, there were very few Asians there. Much fewer than I expected to see.

Better to go now than in a few months I'd say.
You mean go now and not in the Summer when its hot and the virus dies off. Good call!

Bring a frickton of Purell and use it often. If anyone in your crew has respiratory problems, don't go.
Personally I would wait at least a month since we're still extremely early in confirmed cases here (and I believe that's primarily due to lack of testing). Thirty days from now will give a much better picture of what impact this will have within the US.

Those stats for the flu are 90% bogus.
Scruffy posted how the CDC makes up those numbers in the corona virus thread. I’ll add the link when I find it.

Here is what it says: Flu (indentified virus) - 215 Flu with pneumonia (identified virus) - 95 Flu/ other respiratory manifestations (virus identified) - 112 Flu/ other manifestations (virus identified) - 8 Flu (virus not identified) - 634 Flu with pneumonia (virus not identified - 322 Flu/other respiratory manifestations (virus not identified) - 301 Flu/ other manifestation (virus not identified) - 11
Total: 1,698
As you can see this already takes into account cases that were suspected but no virus was identified by testing.
In fact, that’s the bulk of the cases.
Now how does the CDC get to 36,000? Because they changed their definition of a flu death to be CDC Methods section

Are any of you over 50 or have serious heart/lung conditions? If no, then do it.
It's growing increasingly likely that everyone will catch this virus at some point, so you might as well travel while you still can.
