Disney and Universal in Orlando in July

get there when they open. Plan to get out by early afternoon. Go back after dark. Take advantage of late night extra magic hours.

That's sounds awful. We're going in September.

I did Universal last year during the busiest time of the season in January.

It was still fun, but the 3D motion rides become very nauseating after a while. The roller coasters are the shite though.

PAY the extra fee and get the express pass. It's worth every dime.

We put these in our backpacks, just ask them to fill it up, or pour ice water into it yourself.

If you are going to be there for a few days, look into getting the meal plan. Its a pre paid certain number of breakfast, lunch, dinners, and a snack. For the dinners, it covers, appetizers and desserts as well, unfortunately it doesn't cover alcoholic drinks

Allows you to go eat at some really nice places and not worry about the cost, other than a tip.

On hotter days, Animal Kingdom seems to have the mos shade, and cooling machines. You may also want to go to one of the waterparks one day as well. The magic kingdom has the most places to duck inside and beat the heat, and even on the most crowded days there will be some rides and places you can go to beat the heat (when we were young, my parents used 'Carousel of Progress' to get away from crowds/heat). Universal is a much tighter park, and you spend less time outside, especially on the Studios side. Hollywood studios is also very tight, but has a lot less attractions than Universal, and if you only have a couple of days Universal is better.

Counter service food in Disney has gotten pretty good and there are some great options that really aren't much more than fast food prices. You pay far less there for drinks and food then you would at a sporting event. Disney allows you to bring small soft coolers with ice and drinks in as well. You can even bring in snacks if you want.

Like others have said, get there early.


It's a fun place, just relax and don't try and do too much. Use the fast pass system to pick the three rides your kids want to do the most. Then just enjoy the rides with the lower wait times. Get the app for the park and you can see live updates of ride times, helps you pick places your kids may want to go, and let you determine if the wait would be too long before walking there.

The kids will enjoy it and you will too.
