re: Disney. One statement to sum up the current state of affairs in the park.

Disney felt like a different place and time. Everyone smiled. Everyone said hello and goodbye and my pleasure, etc. They went out of the way to make sure your trip was perfect. The cast members were fans themselves. The parks were spotless. Bathrooms constantly cleaned and immaculate. Rides didn’t break down as often. Buses ran far more frequently. Your room was cleaned daily. And so on.
The magic is still there, many cast members are amazing. But they are fewer in number than before. It feels more like any theme park now than before. You can get that same experience at SeaWorld, where a season pass is the cost of one day at Disney.

Just got back. Valet at Wilderness Lodge lost my key and Fob. Called down and was told I was not in the system. Good think I kept my valet receipt, and I could literally see my car in the valet lot.
Anyway they have 2 new keys made, replacement Fob sent to h resort, programmed and return to me the next day.
But yes, the "Disney Magic" is slipping.
Pro tip: Anybody associated with DOD, book rooms at "Shades of Green". I almost prefer it to a "Disney Resort".

One thing we don’t do is call folks names for doing things they enjoy and spending their money how they want on vacation.
Neither did I, Oh sanctimonious one.
Doesn't change the fact that giving away huge chunks of cash to a woke entity that has directly ruined or largely responsible for ruining everything, including college football, is just flat out
Dumb.

Took the family when the kids were young, had a good time but to me Disney is one of those things you see once and that's enough. Too many other vacation attractions in this country to limit yourself to doing one thing over and over.
This.

I saw an opportunity to take a spot on the sanctimonious podium and I jumped.
It is what it is at this point. But your remark about college football makes think of another tangent.
At what point do antitrust laws start kicking in for these mega corporations? Disney, Amazon, Walmart, etc…

I use points and stay off property for free and simply make a 10 minute drive to the park.
So many Marriott and Hilton choices.

Think if Chic Fil A ran an amusement park/hotel/bus service.

no shot
Just priced a 5 night stay with 4 days park for 5 people staying at a cheap value result. No meals or anything like that at all
$6300
That includes zero food, zero gas for driving or plane tickets etc. Just the room cost and tickets
Depends on when you go. That extra person is hurting you because they have a lot of great 4 person packages.

4 day parkhoppers for 4 are approx $2500
I’m going to knock at least $500 off your bill to start. If you are doing a 4 day stay, you don’t need to park hop.

5 nights in hotel, realistically, $1000
Can do that for $150 a night at one of the Disney Springs hotels.

Incidentals - $250 (that plush Stitch someone had to have…)
You can buy the same souvenirs on Amazon for 75% of the cost. Hell some Disney specialty sites will have it for 50-60% of the cost.
quote:
Food - $500 if you eat ramen in the room
Ramen costs a dime. 3 times a day times 4 people times 5 days is $6. Your math is off.

These are still true.
Rides are more complicated these days so they require more upkeep. Also, lawyers.

Yeah it’s costing me $7000 for Disney tickets and lodging for a week at that Wilderness Lodge place on site. Airfare CHEAP. Direct round trip flight only $137 each. 4 of us. Still have to purchase food at Disney as I think they still aren’t doing the meal plans. This will cost me probably right at $10K when all said and done.

Book a room for four nights. Book three days of parks. Have a hotel pool day for a break between the three park days, and hit up Disney Springs that day for a couple of hours. If your not shelling out the money for the monorail Disney resorts (Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian, stay at one of the hotels at Bonnet Creek or further away off site. Hit up the local Target for Disney souvenirs (great selection at these Targets compared to the local targets). Make a Publix run for groceries and make PB+J’s for the kids, peanut butter crackers for kids snacks, trail mix/granola bars for adults snacks, Publix subs for adult lunch, and throw in a backpack. Bring another backpack with 6-8 bottled waters and refill it there when empty. Eat breakfast in the hotel (food from grocery if not a free breakfast there). Enjoy a good meal out once a day. If snacking on park food, buy the refillable popcorn the first day. Buy beer/wine at the grocery and not at the hotel bar or hotel poolside restaurant. Do that, and you’re a lot closer to 3.5k as opposed to the aforementioned 10k.

Just got back. You need a fast pass for the customer service line because it is so long. It really has gone to shite.

This is what we did back when my kids were still kids. We stayed for 6 nights but only bought tickets for 5 days. That one day off in the middle of the week just hanging out at the pool and taking a break was refreshing and re-energized us for the rest of the week.
We had a great time when we went but that's been a little over 10 years ago so I can't speak to how things are now

Just got back from a week at Disney World and I must say, it’ll be a while before we go back again. Went during the height of Covid and I was spoiled by the short lines. This time around the line were 2 hours long and Genie was hit or miss.
Too many fat fricks on scooters moving about, too many young people recording TikToks dances and shite. People acting like rabid animals buying stupid shite. All together way too many people.
Mobile ordering was supposed to be faster but took way too long also. I found that there was no value for my kids. Next time, we are going to a National Park so they can actually learn something.
