Actually you should read the books by Lee Cockerell. He saved the parks in the nineties when Eisner ran them into the ground. You used to get really good service for the money. Fortune 500 companies and many more send/sent their management to the Disney Institute just to learn how they do service. They created value. That ship has sailed though.

It’s a solid place for people watching. The amount of lymphedema and lipedema on pasty white legs that haven’t seen the sun in 2-3 years is astounding.

People talk about the obesity there, but it’s not like your typical 300 lb baw with morbid obesity that played offensive line in high school (and kept gaining weight) that at least has a base of muscle underneath their cloak of blubber. The typical Disney morbid obesity is soft, mushy, and weak.

The Ratatouille ride at Epcot was solid. Just too many people everywhere with too long of lines for everything.

We go place like that too. I bought into DVC…been to New Zealand, Maine, Eureka Springs, Ozarks, Smokies and more. Now that my younger kids are older, we will start doing trips like Yellowstone and Glacier.

I think you are missing the point. Walt Disney initially envisioned Epcot at a "City of Tomorrow", and when that turned out to not be practical, Disney corp. at least kept Epcot as a unique fusion of education, culture, and entertainment, and that was what drew so many visitors, including myself. Each of the attractions I mentioned had a uniquely educational and cultural aspect whilst also being entertaining.

Today, Disney management has thrown the cultural aspects out the window and has instead tried to commercialize everything in the worst way possible. That is my problem. If they had, say, updated each attraction while keeping the core essence which made each one great, that would be a different issue and I would be open to updates. But to sell out in the manner which they have done is something entirely different.

Culture was the "magic" of Epcot. And now it has vanished...it is now just like any other overpriced theme park packed with tourists and forgettable attractions.

Actually, it is the most basic thing they can do is say, thanks for coming and spending your money with us.

First time I’ve ever seen a basic service tenet not being performed at a Disney park.

It’s more of a surprise than I felt entitled to it.

We just got back and had a blast. Thought the CM we ran into were great and very accommodating. Had a couple bend over backwards for us to move Genie+ reservations around for us because our youngest was asleep.

Spent 4 park days there. Paid well under $5k for everything. Rooms, tickets, travel, food and souvenirs.

Set your expectations beforehand and do your planning. I know to some people that isn’t the idea of a vacation but gone are the days where you can just roll up to Disney and have a magical time.

Only complaints would be the scooter people are multiplying. 90% are fully able to walk but because their family can cut every line with them it makes it a huge benefit. Most of them let the kids sit on their lap and drive it.

Also, the international vacationers are some of the most unaware people on the planet. Imagine walking through a crowded area and the person in front of you just decides to stop on a dime to type a text. Completely frustrating.

We are pot committed for a trip right after the kids get out of school in May. DVC points rented and paid for, park tickets purchased, etc.

We have been to Disney many times. Wife and kids (no pics) have been a couple of times since COIVD started, but this will be my first.

I don't mind the crowds if the price is right.

I don't mind the price is the service is good.

I have a huge issue with high prices, crowds, and low service.

I'm kinda hoping that this trip opens the wife's eyes. She is a fangirl of the highest order.

Most of the great employees over the years were lifer employees, retirees looking for something to do, and the college program.

The lifers are all gone and replaced by lower paid employees. The retirees are still staying away, scared by COVID. And the college program is helping but it's not up to normal yet.

Yup.

Until demand tapers off, I don't expect much to change. And there is a ton of pent up demand.

IMO

Best to bring kids when they aren't afraid of some bigger rides

Same here.

Spoke with a couple lifers, some still employed and some recently retired.

That’s their concern. The hard core Disney cast members are being replaced by folks who don’t really care.

Disney also slashed their benefits too. The amount of passes they received was greatly reduced.

Don’t get me wrong. There are still exceptional cast members. However the new batch is definitely different.

Scooter folk are indeed multiplying.

Lol the international folks have no self awareness at all. You are spot on

Not to be a badass, but I don't remember ever being afraid of any of the rides, nor my sisters.

Which rides make kids scared?

We just got back ourselves. My wife, myself, and the kids who have been in the past all acknowledged that while it was fun it definitely lacked the “magic” that marks a typical Disney trip.

I don’t know if it was because of the more obvious attempts to squeeze every last dime out of the consumer, the less enthusiastic, sometimes rude staff, or the new, godawful Genie+ system but altogether it made for a less than stellar experience. We went once a year for 7 years up until 2020 and but will not be going back any time soon.

Which they still have, so I’m not sure what your point is.

They add a Nemo ride through and put a Frozen coat of paint on a ride and it broke you.

Lol imagine being a grown arse adult male and saying this about Epcot.

What kind of international travelers are y’all experiencing? The overwhelming amount of out of country travelers I come across at Disney are South Americans and while they travel in herds, they keep it moving. Not that I wouldn’t mind their women slowing down a little and walking right in front of me.
