He did great keeping himself in contention all week. Looks like there was a controversial call on 17 today that helped him out which is unfortunate but is what it is.

Yea I haven’t seen the clip of the call yet but I’d imagine it’s one of those things where it was probably by definition a fault but it’s never called and definitely shouldn’t have been there. It sucks because I like gossage from everything I’ve seen from him and was hoping if Silas didn’t win he’d pull it off but his rep is about to take a beating over this.

He certainly dark-horsed the field. I probably would not have picked him as a T10 finisher before the Worlds started.

But it's irrelevant. The official made the ultimate call in this case as well. Gossage really hurt his career, though.
I watched it live. My honest take is that Rainers had a bad line and was trying to squeeze himself as far left as he could as he threw. He went a bit too far and committed the foul. I can see a pro like Gossage calling that in that context.
Rainers also went +1 on th back nine. Gossage didn't have anything to do with that.

I finally saw the call and it was a fault. Just sucks to call it from the card in that situation when it wasnt egregious. I hate it most for Silas because he had nothing to do with it but is going to get hate just because of the result.
Gossage is probably going to live to regret calling that. I don’t think he meant anything malicious but man I would’ve let that slide.
That being said it was probably the correct call by the book so is what it is. At the point disc golf has gotten to I think they can start to break away from having violations called from the card at majors if nothing else. Goose shouldn’t even have to be put in that position.

It is taking the shine off his win at the time it is most important. It makes it worse that Gossage is the one who called it. Adding to that, almost everyone became a huge Rainers fan during the week. It was 100% a fault but not an egregious one. It is such a deal because they are almost never called.
I always wondered why nobody ever called a time violation on Nikko until the official called one at the European, and I thought he was going to fight him.

Silas grew up across the street from us. Excellent kid from an excellent family.
I remember he won a Jeep for winning a competition when he was 14 or 15. Sold it and banked the money.
