They sleep for a fairly consistent number of hours (10). Saturday night we were having fun so stayed up until 10:30 or so. They were up Sunday around 7 like normal. Same thing last night. Sleep at 8:30, up by 7 today.
Why didn’t we get rid of the change like everyone wanted? My kid definitely isn’t adjusting.
It'll work out. Give it a couple days and make some adjustments a night or 2.

Don't try to reason with him. His child is clearly not a boss. Not smart. He hasn't yet adjusted to the time change. He's had 24 hours. If he were smart, he'd have adjusted already. How can you not see this?

If you really, sincerely want the thing to change or be eliminated- try organizing, or writing ur congressman or something a few months before the next scheduled time change, instead of just starting a thread the day after it happens .. people always forget how much they hate it in a few days so it never goes away .
Honestly though. It seems like we voted to change this rule and it was agreed to. Did something fall apart at the last minute?

I think congress is where the failure of year round DST rests. They have failed to approve the change in federal law. Yes, with as many CR’s they shove past passage with the most random of laws included, they have yet to add year round DST.
States can stay on standard time if they choose. They cannot stay on DST without Congressional approval. That is the difference for most states.

I went to bed at 8 PM last night and woke up at 6 AM. Feel great today.

Louisiana has a trigger law to make daylight saving time permanent if Congress passes the "Sunshine Protection Act" filed this week by Republican Florida U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.
This is a fantastic way to get everyone in this state with more than a few brain cells left that still remain here to leave permanently.
Year round DST has been tried, it doesn't work.Your body is more attuned to an early sunrise.
This state can't understand that because the majority of citizens have no impulse control, but later sunsets are actually detrimental to your health, and whether you realize it or not (yes, you reading this), you're likely not the night owl you think you are just because you enjoy getting blasted during a summer pool party.

No matter what it sucks for at least some portion of the general population. If we didn’t fall back, the western part of time zones wouldn’t have sunrise until almost 9am.

Because we do that quite frequently when traveling and being social. We will keep him up till 8:30 and it never changes his wake up time.

The whole point of DST is to put the most daylight hours during a time when people are awake and active and can utilize them and be productive during them. DST does that year round. Standard time has it start getting light out at 3:30AM in the summer. That's a waste.
Leave it DST year round. I'd like to enjoy an 8:30AM sunrise.
I don’t think I’ll ever really understand this line of thinking.

To me, you should balance it all around the period with the least daylight - winter. You’ll have longer days in the summer regardless.
That’s said I’d rather stick with either than switch between them.

Correct.
Minority opinion, but leave it in Standard time year round. Mother Earth adjusts accordingly.

I would rather maximum daylight after work/school hours end. Dropping kids off or going to work in dark do not bother me. I love getting home with some daylight.

Time is, like, a construct man.

Is that a problem? Get up and be productive. Or do you plan on sleeping all day?
