There is a lot more money in BR than anyone know about or realize. Consider this-when the Stanford Group was seized around 2009 the total loss was somewhere around 7-8 billion dollars that were embezzled worldwide.

Of that 1 billion was from Baton Rouge and the surrounding area. 1 billion dollars that disappeared from this city and while it hurt a lot of people, and personal friends of mine, the city barely blinked.

People buying houses in that market range can definitely afford it and there are plenty of them around here.

How many $800,000 houses are sold yearly in BR? How many below $400,000?

That house is less than a mile from a Sonic. If I could get them under $800k I might pick it up as a nice pre-knuckle check clubhouse. I could work up a sweat jogging over and then jog back and wash the other guys blood off before going home. If I got famished I could just stop into Texas de Brazil and load up on bacon wrapped filet post baw brawl. I wonder if they would charge me a corkage fee for my Ocean water.

I don’t know. Do some research and get back to me. Not sure what this has to do with anything.

You had an anecdote. I asked for some more info. Wish you could've provided it.

I get that the pastor can do whatever he wants.... free market.... ya da ya da. But you would think a devout follower of Jesus would want to be like Jesus. You don’t have to be dirt poor or anything but geeze..... almost a million dollar home when there are likely children in his church going to bed hungry at night. And people feel obligated to tithe their 10% because the pastor says that’s what Jesus says to do. Ugh

Talk trash on the Catholics all you want but they don’t force tithing and the priests/nuns live a fairly simple life.

Don't know, but there are currently 94 houses over $800K for sale in BR according to Zillow.

Wrong.

Most of y’all had to either postpone retirement or come to grips with the reality that it wasn’t going to happen. Some were never able to recover. Some sold their homes. To say the town didn’t blink is naive.

These are "mega-church" pastors preaching prosperity gospel! The congregation will not allow their prosperity guru to not be filthy rich!

These guys aren't spending their time on earth becoming saints! They are balling FOR their congregation, so the congregation can see how much Jesus loves them and money is only an energy that flows easily when sins are confessed and forgiven and conscious focus is placed on the accumulation of wealth!

I guess you forgot that they were forcing people to pay extra money for their sins or to have things changed.

But yes most priest and nuns do live a lot more modest lives than some of the Protestant pastors.

Lol gotcha. I’m kinda relieved. We’ll go to healing place every so often and while I’m completely against mega churches the pastor there seems like a genuinely nice guy. And it’d be crazy if that was his house since I think he’s only been the pastor since Dino got run off. Maybe 4 years.

But he might live in a million dollar mansion for all I know.

To others points. It’s just disenginous when a pastor makes buckets of money for “spreading the word”. I don’t care what kind of speaking engagements he has.

The HP preacher lives in Prairieville in a house probably worry 350-400 today. But I bet it was under 275 when he bought it. He drives a Honda Accord and is very unassuming. I don't go to HP but I love Mike Haman.

I had a good guess when I saw the thread. Not a fan of the family and I’ve known them a while
