Sounds like that doctor hates his family and doesn't want to deal with them.

Yes you are, if they give permission which would be the case if they are asking for treatment. Probably not a good idea to write narcotics to family members because of the DEA though.

This all started because we working on a doctor's home this morning and he said he had to step out to take his wife to a doctors appointment... we joked an said couldn't he save some money treating her himself.. he told us it's not allowed... he could have been joking... I don't think he was... I was just curious

This. I had Aunt who got all of her primary care from one of her cousins that was a doctor. They grew up together and were around the same age. He was her doctor for almost 50 years.

I’d feel weird if my cousin wanted me to give her a physical. Maybe it’s because I’m not a Bama fan.

I tell most of my family that all the time. Now my Mom I do take care of her medical issues. She has a lot of medical problems and most specialist don’t see the big picture.

I take care of family all the time.

My only thing is that I don't call in meds for my daughter. I let her pediatrician make those decisions.

Doctors can treat family members, there are absolutely no rules against it.

It is gene discouraged for a number of reasons. Primarily because it can be hard to be objective when treating family and it can skirt or even cross ethical lines. Particularly if it involves reproductive issues or pain management

It started with HIPA . Not strongly enforced but I hear it’s been ramping up. You aren’t allowed to know personal details about the patient

What????

That’s NOT AT ALL what HIPPA is.

In many cases it’s critical that the treating MD knows personal details about the patient.

They can treat but they often can’t prescribe narcotics.

So my twin Uncles (one was a FP MD and the other was a dentist) broke the rules for all those decades.

Dumb Bastards saw us all for free all of those years.

I’m going to send a strongly-worded email to their respective medical boards reporting this disgusting behavior.

Thanks for the heads-up, you truly are a “lepdagod”.
