They likely got tired of family expecting free treatment.

Only if the surgeon was the girl’s mother.

So it’s bad that I’ve prescribed medication for someone I’m sleeping with?

No that’s perfectly fine as long as you filled out the correct Pro Boner paperwork.

Generally in the professional world, He who represents himself (or someone really really close) represents a fool. Applies. Just avoid it.

Well it’s also not “HIPPA” so there’s that.

AMA

Not illegal in Florida, but frowned upon by the AMA. Among other reasons, it makes it easy to "prescribe" controlled substances to family members without proper reasons. A really good doctor around here got caught up with pain pill addiction doing this.

That seems rather narrow minded of her.

My brother has done surgery on a number of our family members. No big deal.

This all started because we working on a doctor's home this morning and he said he had to step out to take his wife to a doctors appointment... we joked an said couldn't he save some money treating her himself.. he told us it's not allowed... he could have been joking... I don't think he was... I was just curious

Maybe he's a proctologist and she was going to a cardiologist? They aren't all the same

ETA: also wanted to add to the piling on, doctors can absolutely treat their family members.

I had to take my wife to the gynecologist after what I did to her in the bedroom.

ETA: turns out laughing so hard you piss yourself is normal for some women.

Pretty sure doctors can care for family members. However, I don't know that surgeons are allowed to operate on family members.

Accurate. More of an ethics thing.

My wife wouldn’t operate on me or any close friends, but she would provide medical advice or do an office visit.
