Did your old man regularly go out at night when you were a kid?

Specifically to bars or other social drinking type things, alone not with spouse.
Follow up question: If you’re married with kids, do you go out regularly and without the wife?
Curious both to other people’s experiences growing up and now.
My answers:
Father: zero/none.
Me: Despite 12 years of insanity often out 3-5 nights a week, often till 3-4 am, hammered, now I too (married with kids) go out rarely, maybe 5-6 times a year and strangely okay with that for the most part.

Not really. For the most part my parents were home all the time when I was a kid. The divorced when I was 13 so it got crazy after that, but as a kid, it was basically a night at the grandparents once or twice a month and that was it.

Dad: when he wasn’t working was generally home; he did go play pool 1-2 nights a week around the corner
Me: when kids were home growing up I was always home except for work; kids left the house... home 3/4 of the nights

My dad, never..
Me, on occasion.. but you still gotta be ready to fly the mothership to the ER on a moments notice when a kid pops a 104 fever

My dad would stay out late taking care of the cattle/horses.
He never had a sip of booze after I was born.

No. My dad wasn’t a drinker and was a at home every night. We lived in the sticks too so no friend ps coming over. He was also strict as hell. When I went to UGA though I went buck wild.
Me…I’ll go out once a month to see a buddy of mine in town, but that’s it. We drink around my kids though and I worry about what that might do to them.

One of my uncles (who lived down the road and we were all close then) was a regular at the local watering hole. So it wasn’t an unknown thing for them all.

My dad did sometimes. Not regularly.
I wouldn’t say I do regularly, but definitely more than he did. Most of mine are to concerts though.

My mom and dad would go out to Cedarcrest Lounge on occasion when I was little. Not often.
By my teens they never went out unless it was a special occasion like retirement party or class reunions.
My dad drank beers at home after work in the back yard.
My woman and I (10 yrs together) don't go 'out' without each other. She'll go to a girls dinner or some gay shite at a sushi place a few times a year. They get drunk but home by 10pm. I'm the same here if a friend is in town. I'll go to Ivars with him and get shitcanned by 8pm.
And she's always invited and usually comes along.

When I was young my ole man would go to the bar and have a few drinks.. Some nights he would go play pool or cards.. As he got older he would just stop off at a store and pick up his 6 pack and knock em down when he got home..

My dad who raised me never.
My biological father who got me his two weeks off when he was home from working in Alaska went out all the time. Hell he took me with him most of the time.
I spent many of late nights in a bar as a child. I still hear stories about how I’d be asleep in a booth, across barstools or on the floor in the Handle Bar in Beaumont.

Times have changed huh? I remember being brought in the bar room.. getting to sit in the "big chairs" at the bar.. and they would always give me peanuts and a coke.. But I used to like to go with my dad when he played cards.. He would let me sit on his lap. At first I don't think he would let me see his hand, but then as I got older he started teaching me how to play and would let me see his hand so I could pick up when and why he bet, etc.

I drink at home plenty later at night. The only time around the kids is sometimes a few beers and cigar Sunday late afternoon on the patio watching an old LSU game or movie. Not necessarily “around” them but sometimes they’re about or swimming and stuff.

My dad went out and never came back.
My husband and I do not go out to bars, not separate or together. I would rather be with my family than out with strangers/friends.
