In middle school on a manual typewriter. I took it very seriously and was always trying to be fastest in the class. There was always this one girl that would beat me everytime.

Yes in Junior High in the 70’s. It was a required class.

I won an award for Typing in 8th grade which I had to receive in front of the whole school. Needless to say, I never got to use those gifted typing fingers on any ladies at my school.

Yes…and with the advent of computers a few years later, it turns out to be one of the most useful classes I took in high school. I find it puzzling that schools are cutting it out now.
Same here. 9th grade typing on the IBM Selectric and it is about the only thing I can honestly say I really got something out of it and I can still type almost as fast and accurate as a good legal secretary.
Miss Newhouse was the teacher and her brother was Robert Newhouse the running back for the Dallas Cowboys and would come to school in off season. I would ride to Alvin Roy’s Health Club with him after school since the Cowboys weight trained there during the off season. Good Tall Jones taught me how to deadlift. They all smoked cigarettes.

Yes, ‘02 or ‘03. I spiked the football on everyone in that class being done first by at least 20 mins every assignment

Yes. Still type upper 30’s per minute. Don’t know how I’d function without it.

Mavis Beacon from about the 4th grade into high school. Hated that damn program but I'm a decent typer at least. Which is of zero benefit when making this post from a cell phone.
