It's been a while, but my recollection is that my high school was heavily involved in making sure all of us registered with selective service.

Yes. I was terrified not to at the time.

I did but it was still required back then. They would have to have been pretty desperate thought to draft me with my crappy eyesight.

When I was in highschool in the 90's, they made everyone sign up for selective service.

Nope. Didnt know there still was one.

I did, but I remember at Southern in BR, there were hand written signs up in the FinAid office discouraging you from signing up, said it wouldn't affect the aid process.

I did.
And then I enlisted at age 20.
And 30 years later, here I am, a double digit *ahem* "little person."

I turned 18 in 98 and I don’t particularly remember going somewhere out of my way to sign up. I suppose when I registered to vote I may have but really don’t remember and honestly never heard one person, parent, or teacher say to be sure to go do it. Makes me think we just did it in school or something.

This may be old man memory but I thought it was automatic back in the 80's? I remember signing up but I thought it was done at the DMV.

I signed up as required back then.
I was drafted.
6 year commitment, 2 of them on active duty.

No.
I’d already been enlisted for almost a year by the time i turned 18.

Yes, was also #48 in the draft but I was in school at the time and the activity was near ending.
Posted on 9/26/18 at 10:06 am to Prominentwon
Yes it was required. I believe I did it the same time I registered to vote.
Posted on 9/26/18 at 10:09 am to Prominentwon
No I did not. I was already in the Army when I turned 18.
Posted on 9/26/18 at 10:13 am to Prominentwon
I did, I wasn't going to war if drafted though
