Well she did, that's what child support money is for, sounds like she actually used it appropriately in this case.

How many 16 year olds can afford a car?
first time I asked my Dad if I could buy a car he had the sit down and breakdown of every cost associated of owning a vehicle talk, it was a bit daunting, when my first kid turned 16 the mindset of the kids in her class were not what kind of car do you wish you could get, but what are you getting for your 16th birthday?
ETA: I did have a friend that bought, and paid cash for, a brand new Dodge Challenger, from money he'd saved up from a paper route and working odd jobs, when he was 17, I ended up getting that paper route from him

Yes and they could own a car until they could pay insurance too.

Yep. When I was in college I worked summers (and one winter) at a paper mill. I used most of that money to buy my first car.

All of them if they have a part time job, food, free place to live, and their other expenses covered.

Was he doing his paper route in Beverly Hills?

baw was a hard working, very industrious Dago, good man, as mentioned, it was the paper route and various other odd jobs, his cousins had a couple of restaurants in town, he was always working at those too

When I was in high school there was no way I would have been able to work during the week while playing sports. I would have had to work all day Saturday and Sunday, and honestly still wouldn't have had enough money to pay for a car/expenses.

Mine bought me a brand new red sports car right off the lot. In hindsight, they were fricking retarded to do that.

For 7.50/hr? Unless it's an old car from CL they're not affording it
They'll probably get 20 hours max and less if they're on a team or doing some kind other after school activity

Yeah. My daughter is young for her grade (turning 15 entering 10th). Most of her cheerleader friends are doing exactly this already.

I'd rather my daughter be studying than working some shite job after school just to teach her a lesson that life is going to ultimately teach her anyway.

If I can’t afford a car for my 4 year old in 12 years then I have bigger problems to worry about

I drove an old farm truck when I was in high school to prove to my folks that I could take care of something that important. When I graduated my dad got me a used car but put it in my name then payed it off so I could have a good start to my credit score.
I intend on doing this exact same scenario with my kids one day, give them an older car and make sure they can handle the responsibility then purchase them a better one upon graduation from High School and put it in their name.
I didnt realize what it meant to have a good start on credit until after I graduated college and my apartment complex needed to check my credit to approve me. Very thankful for that lesson

She makes good grades, she also spends almost all of her time on instagram and snapchat.
She also has a major issue with understanding what it means to live within her means. Shes the type that is going to be spending half her income on Starbucks and going out if I dont teach her some financial responsibilty.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but your little princess isn't studying with all her free time away from the burdens of work.
