Definitely hit a paved road to cross the Helena Bridge over the Mississippi River. I'm thinking he's hitting some paved roads to get some gas or a hotel.

You can walk across the Mississippi River at the "mouth" Gulf of Mexico? That doesn't sound possible.

The TAT isn't all dirt roads, close to it though. It use to start in Jellico, TN before they moved it down toward Tellico. Looks like he moved the start again though.

People are getting hung up on whether he actually ever touched black top but it is still pretty cool you could do this. Just like the Trans American Trail that motorcycle guys use.

Did you know if you took all the concrete used to make Hoover Dam, and stacked it vertically, you could impede the flow of the Colorado River?

They didn't start on the East Coast. "The East Coast was no go." So, no, you can't drive from the East Coast to the West Coast on dirt roads.
