Used to go once a week.

Now, not religious.

I’m not an atheist, but I’m definitely not religious either. It’s not something I think about.

You should do an AMA on being a white supremacist. I’ve always wanted to hear y’all’s side of the story

Went most Sundays from right after birth until 14 years old. Realized around age 8 that the idea of a god was ridiculous, fought with my father about it every week from that point until he finally gave up when I was 14. Nothing but funerals and weddings since then.

Most Sundays plus a weekday every week pk-12th in Catholic schools (the particular weekday was different depending on the school).

I can't really say that going to church had a positive impact on my life, but learning one of the world's largest religions, and the majority religion of my geographic area, in staggering detail, is just generally useful.

Never, except for weddings, funerals, baptisms, first communions, etc.

Yes went a lot as a kid (everyday the years I was homeschooled) - was very involved, attended Catholic high school

In college I quit for a year or two but then went back, luckily met a Catholic guy that somewhat likes church too

Now we go every Sunday, if not more - and are very involved - I teach catechism, help with vbs, boys are altar servers, etc

(My boys do like to remind me that Hitler was an altar server too )

I absolutely hated going to church as a kid.. First communion, conformation and the dreaded annual ((CONFESION)) Had to be at church for 6:30AM which made me hate going even more... My parents gave up sometime in high school.. But my mom would make a sudden full frontal assault to go to confession and Holiday mass..

And the Priest that was in charge of my first communion and head of our church was named in the lawsuit of abusers..

Wednesday and Sunday.

My family does now. Can't say I always did in college and in early adulthood, but I never left church behind intentionally.

My church life was complicated. I did go to church when I was younger, not every week, but maybe twice a month or something.

My dad was technically Baptist, but he wasn't the religious type. If I had to guess, he probably wasn't much of a believer, but I think it was something he just didn't want to flat out tell his kid, but as I got older and he would make certain comments.

When I was in middle school my dad had to start going to dialysis. I would have to go to Catholicism, but since my dad worked all week then went to dialysis 3 times a week he rested a lot on the weekend and. so we pretty much stopped going to church all together.

The nun who taught Catholicism called my mom one day and told her that she didn't see us at church anymore. My mom explained why and she told my mom that we still need to go because she isn't running a baby sititng service. So my mom told her good, then she don't have to worry about babysitting me anymore because I wasn't going back.

In 6th grade I went to Catholic school. We had to go to mass every Wednesday. When I went back to public school my mom made me go back to Catholicism and confirmation class bc she wanted me to be confirmed. I thought it was all a bunch of bullshite.

Now I believe there could be a higher power, but I don't really know. So that's what I have evolved into.

Yup, though frequency varied. My paternal grandfather was a Baptist preacher who got saved, then got liquor, then after a lot of misery got saved again (yeah yeah yeah, no doctrinal debates, it's a figure of speech, church nerds). The rest of my family was similarly in and out of church, always pulled between the dual polarities of God and the World. After my folks divorced, my Mom spent years looking at several types of churches. We ended up Mormon for awhile (Hey, it was the late 70's, and California). I left LDS behind at 19 after reading some books about Joseph Smith. That pretty much crumbled any foundation I had with them, though honestly, I miss much about their social and family structures. There was a sense of belonging and taking care of each other that I don't think you see in any other religion save traditional Judaism. Kind of an "Us against the World" attitude.

These days I attend Southern Protestant churches (not mainline), though I'm a bit of a heretic on some questions of doctrine. But I'm pretty solid on the essentials. I went through my skeptic phase in my 20's and even came fairly close to atheism at one point, but could never shake my instinct that there's a God, and yeah, He's watching and involved. No blind watchmaker stuff. And that's where I am.

Yes. 2 times on Sunday and Wednesday night prayer meetings. Go every Sunday to this day. Love my church and the awesome people who go there. They have been a great support system for me and my family during difficult times.

Yes. Quit going in my late teens. My life spiraled out of control. Repented in my early 20s. Been going for the past 27 years and a pastor for the past couple of years.

I've heard that in places where Mormons are the majority it can be pretty lonely for non Mormons. The ones I've known around here have all been super nice.

Like you I'm unshakably Southern protestant but through a series of improbable events I've gotten to know some Benedictine monks. I've never met anyone quite like them. Terminal cancer diagnosis? Praise God. 90 years old and confined to a wheelchair? Praise God. Can't afford to pay the lights bill? Praise God. And if they pray for you you can almost sense it immediately when they do. It's freaky in a way.

Yes, was in Marvin Gorman’s church and school when everything went down with him and Swaggart.

Later in young adulthood I went to a Southern Baptist church, and during a pastor search the church split in two over a pastoral candidate bringing in a black singer.

I was in another church that property was donated to, when the pastor felt the church was no longer financially viable he sold the property rather than giving the property back to the person who donated it.

Another Baptist church experience that caused a massive rift was about living expenses for a pastor.

I currently don’t go to church. It’s not because of lack of faith in God, but rather a lack a faith in man, if that makes any sense.

Yes. I go 5 days a week and love it. It feeds my soul and fills whatever void/issues are in my life.
