I didn't follow NFL or NFL divisions until late teens. I was about 16 when I found out that the Seattle Seahawks didn't have an in-state rival team via the Washington Redskins.

I confused “string” for “stream”.

For example, I was on the 3rd stream.

I can usually pick up the rules for sports just by watching it but cricket confuses the hell out of me.

I found it rather easy to pick up.

I used to say “free-pointers” and “three-throws” growing up instead of “free-throws” and “three-pointers”. I would screw up the basketball terminology all the time.

When I would watch a baseball game on tv it confused me that four foul balls weren't an automatic out.

Also, we called the catcher the hind catcher.

I didn’t understand that the referees were different

Didn’t know why the offensive line was ‘traveling’ in football (it was false start)

Thought a 30 second timeout was the “32nd” timeout of the game. Always wondered how I missed all the other ones in a game.

When I was in the first grade, the teacher was reading us a book that had the term side-kick in the title (meaning friend of course). The problem is, it had the two friends playing baseball on the cover.

I had like a 15 minute argument with her that on-side kicks were NOT a part of baseball.

Bitch sent a letter home with me.

In her defense, my dumbass did not realize that a kickoff was a live ball until like the 4th grade.

I remember in the early 90s I was watching a Braves game on TBS with my dad when a batter grounded out to second, the announcer said something along the lines of “So-and-so is retired.” I thought he meant that the player just retired from the game after that play, not that he was just out.

I used to think the center snapped himself the ball.

In the 7th grade I suddenly became a fast runner and won the 50 yard dash and the 600 yard run in PE class. The coach told me to come out for track and told me I should run the thirteen twenty. I spent several days trying to figure out what a thirteen twenty was and didn't find out until practice started a couple of weeks later....3 laps of a 440 track, they didn't run the mile in junior high.

Karaoke (Footwork drill), was certain that was not the right word for it...but it was

It's actually Carioca and meatheads just changed it to karaoke because that's what they thought their coach was saying. Seriously.
