Did you ask your girlfriends dad for permission to marry her?

Just curious. Did any of you guys have the talk with your girlfriends dad prior to proposing to her? How did it go down and how did you approach him?

I'm going to attempt to have the talk with my girlfriends dad this weekend. I say attempt because it's dang near impossible to get him away from everyone for 1 on 1 discussions.

Absolutely. Was more nervous asking him than I was proposing to her, but he ended up being great about it.

Don't be a vagina. Do it. Ask her dad. I promise you will regret not doing so and I can damn sure promise you once she and her parents find you you didn't it won't be pretty.

Best way to show her family that you respect them and take being a part of their family seriously.

went over to her parent's house one weekend while she was out of town. sat down at the kitchen table and just asked her dad. she has awesome parents so it was pretty simple to do.

No, I just got her pregnant. Permission granted at that point.

Yes. He takes his lunch break at home every day at the same time, I had her sister and mom verify that he would be home the day I was going to go. They tipped him off, so he knew what I was there for

Yes.

I took a trip to Lowes with him.

I told him what i intended to do and asked for his blessing (i think its more appropriate than asking for permission)

I sure hope no guy asks me that shite to marry my daughter. My feelings on the marriage will be known if I decide to pay for a wedding.

It's called respect for my adult daughters(one day) to marry who the hell they choose to.

Yes.

Just be sure to preface whatever you say with, "Not that I give a shite what you say, but..."

How is it a sign of respect when it doesn't matter what the old man says, you're going to married the chick anyway?

Has anyone ever been turned down by the father and NOT married the girl in the end?
