I’m no doctor or expert but it seems that the curve has been flattened. And while medical people have indeed worked their asses off, I don’t think that the system was tot the breaking point meaning I don’t think that anyone was close to being denied treatment.
That “not overwhelming the system” is what they sold this on. It’s time for heard immunity. And I say that as someone in the medical field as well as someone with a mom and dad with heart issues.

Google using location data to show if people are social distancing
This is the same thing that your phone does when it tells you how long to get to work in the morning without you saying anything. Only this time it will use it against you.

Google is releasing reports on people's movements during the coronavirus outbreak to help health officials make critical decisions to combat the pandemic. The company on Friday published an early release of its COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports, which use anonymized location data collected from people's phones to chart movement trends.

quote:No one’s getting that much, because they take 10% out for federal taxes. The maximum in Louisiana after taxes is $762.30 a week about $19 an hour. It’s definitely better than nothing but for a mortgage, children, car note, health insurance, groceries, electricity, etc that’s not a huge amount.
$847 in unemployment

From Monroe, it eclipsed his Covid reporting. I almost drove through that weather to hit the AR opening day of Turkey season. Glad I stayed in nola...if I catch some green trout tomorrow. Otherwise....I might be pissed.

Up until a couple of weeks ago when they passed the Cares Act (or whatever the frick stupid name they gave it) a LA resident could only get a maximum of $247 (gross) per week in unemployment, if they qualified. The feds added $600 (gross) per week to whatever amount you qualify for, plus they extended it to include gig workers, 1099 contract workers and self employed workers who would normally get nothing.
It's not a lot of money, but it's better than $247 (gross) a week and damn sure better than nothing.

I'm not completely oblivious to the impact this shutdown will have on businesses.
No reason we can’t be treated like adults and make our own decisions regarding this. If you have reason that the virus may be more lethal to you personally, stay in. No reason the rest of us can’t function and try to get somewhat back to a normal lifestyle back a little at a time. If we don’t, the pain and devastation will be 10 fold in its aftermath.

Ignore white roach.
Hes a condescending asshoe that thinks he's the smartest guy in any room he happens to find himself in.

Agreed. We can't go on like this indefinitely. I don't know how they'll stagger business openings and not have some people screaming that there business should also be open. But we're going to find out in a couple of weeks.
Even when the stay at home orders expire, this isn't going to be over. The virus isn't going away and it may be a year (or more) before they have a suitable vaccine in large quantities. I think crowded bars are going to have problems. Concerts, sporting events, festivals, anything that draws a large, shoulder to shoulder crowd.
It's going to be interesting.

Good morning, near genius. I haven't heard from you in a while. Is there any chance you are my ex? She use to call me a condescending a-hole. I guess it's true ... great minds think alike.

Gonna be a lot of people that turn from the faith after all of this....and as a person of faith myself, I don't have a real good argument against it at the moment.

Ok it’s real to them. Why? Do they have underlying health issues or elderly? Or do they just not want to get sick? Or are they worried about having to miss work? There is a lot of reasons for it to be real. It is real to me enough to distance from others, wash my hands, etc. Its not real enough to me to keep the shutdown going.

That’s not true. It’s only 1200 if below 75k

You're correct. It's the full $1200 if you make below $75000. It gets reduced as your income approaches $99,000. I think the reduction is $5 per $100 of income over $75,000, but I'm not positive. The other figures I quoted were approximations also.
But I did think you would get the full $1200 if you made below $99,000. I was wrong. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
