We pay $150/month for a family plan with BCBS. I think our deductible is $500, but most everything is covered with a $30 copay.

One perk of a teacher salary.

Yeesh. I’d go find a new job. Obviously they don’t know how to negotiate a health plan or they hate their employees.

I’ve negotiated health plans twice for organizations. I can tell you we’ve never considered something this awful.

I know right? It’s great insurance. Every year, disaster strikes, most I see in costs are $5k with premiums.

That's excellent. I hope they don't fall into the greed trap and start going cheap on you. My employer provides a PPE $20 copay plan for the family at twice that amount. And trust me, we use the shite out of insurance.

My gripe with my employer isn't with insurance as much as it is they put a "temporary" freeze on matching contributions to 401(K). That's the one that has me pissed off.

I said in the post that you replied to that obamacare didn't help, I'm just saying it's not the cause of ever-rising costs. This has been going on for decades.

It's not the cause, but it is 100% a cause for damn near doubling premiums.

That's the whole joke about "affordable" health care act. It's affordable to those who benefit from it. For the rest of us, our premiums damn near doubled to make up for those who are getting their shite paid for.

My company offers BC/BS. Family coverage for salaried employees is just over $600 per month. My wife though works at the school in our hometown. Healthcare there is BC/BS PHIP plan which is a much better plan than the one offered by my company. The monthly cost for her plan is $300 per month. Needless to say we’re on her plan. In fact that and her pension plan are really the only reasons she works.

This year wasn’t bad. Went up like 20 bucks a month. I mean I’m still paying just under $2k/month. Kind of makes me want to throw up in my mouth a bit. Before getting married, ACA, and kids...I was paying 189 a month.

Please don’t even start these lies this shite was happening long before Obama care and even steeper increases.

So forcing more people into the insurance pool regardless of their ability to pay does not increase premiums for those insured before and after? Obamacare made insurance more expensive for those that can afford it. It’s math. It’s never been hidden.

Its true and the people who have the ability to control the costs of healthcare are completely in bed with big pharma and the healthcare providers.

O eleven when I first went to work back in the early 90s, family coverage BC/BS at my company, where as I mentioned a moment ago it now costs over $600 per month, was at that time $27 per week.

Also back then with this plan if you had a hospital stay, your co-pay was $100. Didn’t matter how long you were there or what procedure you had. If you went to the Dr., you paid a $10 Co-pay. If you had a prescription, you paid $5.

You do understand that just like the teacher a few posts above yours, that your plan is so competitive because taxpayers contribute the rest through taxes to pay for your insurance?

Thank John McCain, who allowed the sham Obamacare to continue. It has handcuffed the free market.

What about just taxing corporations and rich families? Raising the final $34 trillion would require seizing roughly 100 percent of all corporate profits as well as 100 percent of all family wage income and pass-through business income above the thresholds of $90,000 (single) or $150,000 (married), and absurdly assuming they all continue working. (This calculation refers to individual income, not investment income.)
How about a European-style value-added tax (VAT), which is basically a national sales tax? A rate of 87 percent would be needed to collect $34 trillion under the American tax base.

Stop. The liberals can only get so hard. These ideas are pure porn to them.

Remember when those fricking politicians told us adding all the non-paying people to the insurance pool was going to LOWER our premiums? That was as big a lie as this pandemic.

Big Pharma and insurance companies are going to price themselves out of business. The pleebs will demand “free” government Insurance as private becomes more and more expensive. They need to get a handle on their greed.

As I said, it’s the only reason my wife works for the school. At least this way I get something back for the taxes I’m paying.
