The company was started in San Antonio, Texas.

Many decades ago, I worked in NE Oklahoma. I'd only eaten KFC in Tennessee, and on my way on Saturdays to the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa (it was free and the air conditioning was strong), there was Church's. Their white meat breasts were the same price as KFC, BUT they were whole breasts that were big. Really big. (I didn't know fryers could be that large). And they were good.
As with most good things, those are only memories now. a

I noticed when they re-branded their tenders to “Texas Tenders”. They completely changed the recipe and absolutely butchered them. They were f$&king perfect before.

Nah, we have El Pollo Loco and Pollo Regio. Both very good and very brown.

I've never been to Church's Chicken since it's a Government project aimed at making black people sterile. I don't want to be made sterile.

The Japs have a major boner for KFC. It’s a for real thing, that they want KFC to eat Xmas day. It blew me away.
Yeah hard to believe they have abandoned their world renowned traditional Japanese Christmas dishes.

My mom would take me to the one in Chalmette as a kid. There was a Popeyes near but apparently sometimes we were broke and she could get more at Church’s. I do remember they had regular corn in the cob.

They’re trying to ripoff Cowboy Chicken with that marketing
They've been using Texas Chicken internationally since the 80s. People in countries that don't speak English associate the word "church" w/a house of Christian worship as Church is not known as a common last name in those areas.

When I was a teenager I did some remodel work in several Church's Fried Chicken restaurants around Baton Rouge.
I've never set foot in one again.
I'm sure there are all levels of nastiness in FF restaurants but I would put chicken restaurants at the top.

Legend has it Church's Chicken is still losing Al Copeland money--even from the grave.

In 2016, I walked into a Texas Chicken in Erbil, Iraq. I thought, "This seems familiar," and then I looked it up and realized that I was in a Church's.
It makes sense. "Church's" would have an unwanted and confusing religious connotation in a Muslim country. And Texas works because people have heard of it.
Edit: the Erbil Texas Chicken was really nice. It seemed like upscale fast food.

Back in the day you could get 10 pieces of dark meat for $3.99. They had rolls,
not biscuits and always gave you a jalapeño. When the juice mixed with that hot grease it didn’t get much better. Corn on the cob (on a stick) was pretty damn good.
Up until 3 years or so ago, you could still get a 2-piece special on Tuesday for .99 and it was pretty good. Last time I got some was six months ago and it was absolutely terrible.

Back in the day, deal was..Popeye’s white and dark meat combos were putting out smaller and smaller pieces of chicken. It was pretty well known that while the flav wasn’t what a Popeye’s spicy combo sent out, each cut from Church’s was so much noticeably larger than Popeye’s it was a better value.

Do the Church's in BR still have prison bars on the drive thru?
