My husband and I had said we didn't want to live together until we got married.
At one point we lived in the same apartment complex but separate apartments. Which was pretty awesome. Convenient to see each other...but could easily just walk back to our own places when we needed our space(we both need alone time away from each other or we will kill each other). Best of both worlds imo.
Then layoffs happened at his work and rumors were that his department was gonna be the next to get the ax. Our leases up around that time so decided to move in together just in case he got laid off and would be job hunting for a couple of months. We got engaged a few months after that. And he didn't get laid off...has actually moved up in the company a good bit since then.

Go buy a car without a test drive and report back

Wife and I lived together for six months before we got engaged, then married a year later. Yesterday made 8 years of marriage for us.

My wife and I moved in together when we were engaged because she lost her job. We had talked about it already to save money but it kind of became a necessity then

Wife and I chose not to.

t's irrespective not to live with someone prior to marriage, imo.
I don't think that's the word you meant to use.

I strongly recommend living together before getting engaged.

We did.
For most of the time we had separate places, just one wasn't being used at all and was a total waste of money. Even my uptight southern baptist parents thought it was dumb.
When we got married it was....exactly the same. Have actually argued less than ever post-engagement/marriage, though.

I have multiple friends that stay with their SO every night of the week but pay 600-1000 dollars a month to have a “place” so their parents don’t think they’re living with their SO before marriage. Just pissing money down the drain.

We had seperate apartments, but we were over at each other's places so much, we practically did live together.
But did we truly practice cohabitation? No.

Cohabitation with someone you are romantically involved with is illegal in Mississippi. Of course, no one has been arrested for it in quite a bit of time. There is a local judge here that sees cohabitation as sinful and will take custody away from someone based solely on the fact that they are living with a significant other out of wedlock.

My wife and I have been together for 16 years, married for 13 of those. We moved in together 3 days after our first date.

We were engaged when we moved in together. There was no sense in delaying the inevitable once we both needed a new place to stay.
I get a kick out of people who pat themselves on the back for not living together before marriage, yet were still having tons of sex. You're still going to rot in hell with the rest of us.

It's like the "virgins" who do oral and handjobs, plus anal on birthdays and New Years.

The best plan is live together for a year before marriage, then for 5 more years after the vows. Then get separate homes in the same neighborhood.

Do you know my brother? He lives in bossier, but the years are slightly less. I think they have been together 20 years total

Wow, that seems almost unreal to hear

My wife slept over at my place every night anyway when we’re dating and lived in BR. When I took a job in Texas, she moved with me and we got a place together. We were engaged a year later.

I don't think so. This particular couple has lived out of state for a long time.
