This thread is littered with so many examples of what's wrong with cancer treatment in this country.

Best of luck to you.

Try everything. Including hemp oil (or whatever the marijuana stuff is)
Get on a great high antioxidant diet.
Keep your attitude up, get close to God. And fight every second to defeat it.

You got this! God bless you

Prayers your way. Pancreatic cancer is ruthless. You are in for a fight. A close friend of mine lost that battle. God bless you and your family and friends. I hope for all the best.

I'm truly sorry you have to go through this. My mom did not want to go to MDA at first. She wanted to stay closer and really only go as far as New Orleans. Someone convinced her to go to MD Anderson. Life changing decision. What was a "99.9% sure ovarian cancer" diagnosis changed into a double hit lymphoma diagnosis at MDA. She was scheduled for surgery at Tulane the day she changed her mind and went to Houston. Had she gone through with surgery and treatment for the wrong kind of cancer, she would not be alive right now.

The things she experienced at MDA were truly amazing. They are incredible! If you can get there, I say do it even if it's just for a second opinion. Then, you can make your decision of what you want to do. Don't assume. Explore all options and let the experts guide you.

I hope you have healing and peace during this difficult time.

MD Anderson has had some recent agreesive solutions that might help. Please reach out to them. American Cancer Society is a great resource too, please call them.

Will pray for you and remission.

Parallax you seem very knowledgeable on cancer and it's different forms. The tumor is wrapped around two arteries as well as part of the pancreas and part of the liver. The odds of getting it to shrink enough are not good. Please understand after the surgery to open my bile ducts the surgeon spoke to my husband, who waited until we got home to give me the news. I have not discussed anything with my oncologist yet so I am working off what my husband remembers of the conversation (he was in shock).

Where do you live? If near Orlando look up Dr. Debose for a whipple.

Working on it. Luckily I traveled a lot in my last job so I have a ton of airline miles. Two of the main things on my list are seeing the Northern Lights so trying to get to Alaska & also a trip to Maine. I have hit most of the others in earlier years.

Good luck to you.

Fairbanks is a great area to see the northern lights (saw them five days straight when I was there). I think it's the best area in alaska, and maybe one of the best places in the world to see them. Robert the shrubber should be able to chime in and give info.

My former college roommate was diagnosed at about age 40, he had no symptoms, the diagnosis was the result of a CT scan for a minor injury. He was given 6 months, but was offered the option of several treatment options that may have given him more time. He decided the odds they were giving that the treatment would be beneficial were pretty low and that any additional time he may have gotten would not have much quality of life due to side effects of treatment and recovery time after surgery. He did nothing and continued to live as he had, he was a runner in excellent physical condition, and had always been careful with his diet, and he continued that lifestyle. He lived 7 years, and had no real issues with the disease until the last 6 months when he started having pain. Good luck with whatever path you choose.

I am currently posting from a hotel in Houston because we are back at MDA last week and next week.

Had my father not chosen to come here, there is no doubt he would already be dead. His cancer is incurable but MDA has given us more time with him which we are all grateful for. Expectancy with what he has is less than 12 months. Really 6 to 8 is the average. He is on month 19 and doing OK for now but that can change quickly with his disease.

We have some more appointments Monday for a treatment they are putting him on to possibly give him more time. Nowhere else would fight for us like they have or have the opportunities (clinical trials) they have.

Of course, there is also nothing wrong with living out your final days too as not everyone reacts well to the treatment options and I have also told my dad that it's up to him when he wants to just go home.

Go to MD Anderson in Houston as fast as you can. Call them, they will get you in very quickly. See what they have to say after they review your records. Not saying you haven't had good care or a god diagnosis. Make the phone call and spend one day going to Houston. You will meet with several doctors, they will get copies of all test results to date, they will then have an internal review of your test results to date with a team of cancer specialists. They may come back and confirm your current diagnosis and they may come back with possible treatment options.

Make the call.

Chena Hot Springs, just East of Fairbanks is a wonderful place to see them. Winter wonderland.

OP, hang tough and fight. I've known a couple people who have overcome that type of cancer and have a wonderful quality of life.
