Who else regularly drives through the Quarter on a regular besides the groups that I mentioned?

I’m trying to figure out what group of drivers would be restricted if everyone else is allowed.

All visitors to the quarter? Tourists? People going to dinner or to bars? People going to walk around the FQ? Believe it or not there are a LOT of people that drive through there in their stupid cars to show off as well.

The vast majority of traffic in the FQ would be made up of visitors, IMO.

So, pretty much the Mardi Gras plan, but yeat round.

The Mardi Gras plan only allows hotel guest to park in hotel parking garages.

That won’t work year round when these parking garages are open to the public the rest of the year.

There are much bigger cities all over the world that manage to do this in much larger areas. It is a big trend.

I don't have much faith that this administration would do it well or New Orleans in general, but its done all over the world.

great idea. Tell the group of people that are coming to spend money in your city they aren’t welcome to drive through the most touristy area of town.

Dumbest idea ever.

Not sure why it wouldn't work. You need a pass to get into the zone. Delivery, residential, customer, etc...

Are they going to set up check points with NOPD to decide who gets to come in and who doesn’t?

Do you hear how ridiculous this sounds?

Bc some hotel parking garages are open to the public when they have open spots when it’s not Mardi Gras. Plus there are a ton of private lots that the valets at restaurants use as well. You would lose at that revenue

Yeah, they probably would lose that revenue.

I delivered beer in the summer out of Hs & later sold wine & spirits in the quarter and my family owned a restaurant for 3 decades in the quarte. Deliveries go on all day. Alcohol, produce, seafood, all of it.

And the rest of the quarter?

No one is delivering after 5pm anyway.

So you agree it’s done all day? Most bars and restaurants don’t accept deliveries between 11-2. So they go on pretty much all day.

Bourbon St isn’t the only street in the Quarter with bars and restaurants.

They are and have been for years.

I know that at after a certain hour cars can't go down bourbon and parts of Royal are blocked on weekends. From a pure safety issue, they need to do something about vehilces being able to cross Bourbon St. during crowded times. I have seen more fights, people getting bumped, and almost run over from this.
