I don't think I can ever recall getting rid of a coffee pot because it broke. My wife has always ditched them because they don't look good anymore. In fact, if you go to goodwill, the appliance aisle is loaded with coffee pots. I never see a microwave.

My microwave is from 1997. It is mounted in the wall above the oven. About 10 years ago I replaced a capacitor for around $20 and that’s been it. It even still looks brand new because I keep my shite clean.

My first microwave lasted 12-13 years. The replacement has lights out in the screen, so the 8 looks like a 3. It’s only 4-5 years old. But it will make a plate hot, that’s for damn sure!

I have two broken newer models in the shed.

Our 25 year old sharp carousel still going strong. I laugh everytime the power goes out and the display reads "enjoy your new oven". My wife hates it. She hates all old appliances that won't die. She would rather replace them every year.

My parents have had the same microwave since before I was born (I am 33). They completely remodeled their kitchen a few years back, and they replaced everything but that microwave. It's crazy. Probably have to heat things 30-45 seconds longer, but it is still kicking.

air fryers are trashy

One of the greatest inventions in the past 20 years. Makes leftovers taste delicious and have you ever had an air fried hot dog? It's the only way I eat a hot dog now if I'm at the house.
pretty sure most rent controlled apartments come standard with a black air fryer on the countertop next to fridge and a starter pack of chicken nuggets.

False

Double oven.

But the top is also a micowave and air fryer.

I've had multiple people copy the setup in their own kitchens.

I am an anti-microwavite. I hate microwaves. I don't own one. I think they destroy the taste of most of the things that get heated in them, and all the things that get cooked in them. They are the essential enabler of half-a$$ed cooks everywhere, and one day, I suspect that science will reach a consensus that microwave cooking, especially of pre-prepared foods, is the most unhealthy type of cooking done in the US. It certainly produces the worst quality product now.

All that being said, my mother likes microwaves. I have generally had to buy her a new one every other year because those things just Chernobyl. The current one has lasted about five years, but that is probably because it was the smallest and simplest one I could find. The more crap on them, the sooner you will throw them out.

They just got set there when I got the older working model out of storage. They now function as tool cabinets lol

My house was brand new when I bought it.

Within a 6 month window after it hit the 10 years old mark, all kinds of shite went out:

- garage door opener
- oven
- microwave over

Nothing is designed to last as long as it could be.

we went to one of those snobby boutique appliance places in nashville; you know the one where every cooktop, range and fridge is $10k?

the woman didn't even quote use for a hood or microwave; she was like 'just pick something up for $400' and call it a day.

Trashy?!

Microwaves are in the nicest homes in the world. Air fryers are just convection ovens.

We put an outlet in our pantry when we remodeled and that's where both the microwave and air fryer live. Keeps the kitchen looking clean.

Nothing says trashy-try-hard like people not using a kitchen as intended because they don't want it to look "trashy".
