Did the guy really make a scene at the restaurant by calling the restaurant from his table, called his friends to ask them if this was normal, and polled a white couple sitting at a table near them?

Also, this is Desi Vega's in Metairie. This isn't some local French Quarter place on Bayou Classic weekend, where maybe those local stereotypes may have more meaning.

Or maybe the server and the customer had a previous experience together? Maybe the customer was a dick the entire time? Maybe the guy was fricking the server's mom on the side? There are possibly a million non-racism reasons for this server to have done what they did. The media and the public NEVER wait for these things to play out and find out exactly what happened. If people had just waited for all the facts to come out in the George Floyd case for instance, perhaps we wouldn't have spent all summer burning shite and blocking roads?

A public apology because the Washington’s made it public. I don’t blame either party for making it public, but I bet they both wish it wasn’t now. In hindsight. But that’s beside point.

the owner really had no choice. his employees who represent the restaurant put him in a very bad light. what they did was wrong and deceitful. and ultimately he has to answer for it.
it takes years and years to build up a reputation and only seconds to destroy it. he's doing damage control and it is the right thing to do.

When these things happen, one side jumps to the conclusion of it being true and runs with it. The other side automatically assumes it's false and runs with it. One side ends up looking foolish. The next time the other side ends up looking foolish.
And the rest of us are just shaking our heads at both sides and how they simply refuse to learn their lesson when they're wrong. That lesson being, just wait for the story to play out, it's not that difficult.

Did you read the story? The server and the manager admitted that this is EXACTLY what happened.
If you have the facts, that's it, case closed.
Trying to compare this to other situations is intellectually weak. All situations stand on their own.

Let's face, Mauler's dining experiences are pretty limited. He probably expects the bartender to obsequiously thank him for the $2 tip he leaves on a round of bud lights.
