Some of y'all may remember him. He was a Rummel stand-out, signed with LSU before transferring around. He got sick In 2008 I believe and has been fighting it ever since. He is finally at peace.

Former Archbishop Rummel star running back Derron Parquet has passed away in Garyville after a long illness over the weekend. Parquet was 35. Parquet played at Rummel from 1996-1999, amassing 3.912 yards on 543 carries with 42 touchdowns.
Parquet rushed for 300 yards against South Lafourche in 1999 and rushed for over 200 yards six times for the Raiders under Jay Roth. He remains third all-time in school history in rushing yards.
Parquet signed initially with LSU before transferring to Memphis and ended up at Lindenwood University in Missouri. “Derron played in the same backfield with Michael Burks his first year and they were devastating,” Roth said. “He was an explosive tailback who could go the distance on any play. They knew he was getting the ball and still could not stop him.
He was the first person Nick Saban came to visit after he got the LSU job. That speaks to Derron’s ability. He was one of the best players we’ve ever had at Rummel and he will not be forgotten. He helped put our program on the map. He will be missed.”

Jarrel Johnson and Michael Burks
But Parquet had the most yards per carry...

Grew up playing ball with him. There wasn’t a sport he didn’t dominate, a freak of an athlete. Knew he has been sick for sometime, still crazy to hear. RIP

RIP to Derron and God bless his mother who relentlessly cared for him. I got to know them and been to their house in Garyville several times over the last few years through work (medical).

I didn’t get all the details, but he had gotten sick during a road trip to Houston while at Memphis. His mother thinks someone put something in his food.
