These new charges against the driver actually show me that they know a whole lot more now potentially of how things really went down.
Lock em all up and throw away the key.

Hmmm... first and third for the guy who was allegedly just an accessory and didn't participate in the physical acts?
One could argue that driving the vehicle was physically assisting in the rape.

I'm sure it has something to do with assisting. Even driving the car enough to cause the doors to lock could be portrayed to the grand jury as aiding in the victim's confinement/inability to leave. Which would qualify as more than a mere accessory charge.
Unless of course there's a massive bit of info that we do not know yet.

Upon a guilty verdict drag ‘em out and open fire.

How does someone get 1st and 3rd? Did he participate more than originally alleged?

Let her father run them down with his truck.

Hopefully some of the more legal inclined posters will translate what this development means.
I'm gonna suggest they learned Carver knew of Carter's prior predatory acts and his intent that night. IOW, he brought a known rabid dog to a park.

So can a person like Carver get indicted on a first degree rape charge without physically engaging in the act, or were the jurors made aware of something the general public doesn’t know?

Part of the 1st degree charge can including physical confinement. You could make a good argument that driving the car would count and helping physical confinement.

the uncle is the one of the 4 with the weakest case. Driver had "control" of the vehicle and the occupants in the vehicle and the other 2 participated in the actual event.
if the uncle was smart, he would turn states evidence on the other 3 but being he is family to one of the 4 that wound happen.
seems the plan is to throw the book at all 4 and take away the race issue. politics will give all 4 the same fate.
(not saying they should all have the same fate, because i think they should)

Hope it involves a slow torturous death.

I wonder what they have on him. Those charges are alot tougher than I thought. Unless he did participate or did more than he said. I expected Kaivon to get those charges (and he will) but I never expected Carver to get these charges. Another poster said that they may be trying to play down the racial angle by putting tough charges on the only white guy involved.

I wonder what the uncle will be charged with?

I find it interesting that in the article, it says she was pushed out of the car.
I don’t recall reading that she was pushed. Up until now I thought it’s been that she voluntarily got out of the car.

Why do reports continue to say it was raining? Where are they getting that from? It was cold (like 33-34F) but I couldn't find any record of it raining at that time.

When articles get multiple details wrong like that, it’s either on purpose to add unnecessary hyperbole or the writer is incompetent and has “sources” who are really just gossip tards. Either way, it makes me question everything they’ve written.
