I think increases in "shrinkage" is far less of an issue than online shopping. 15 years ago, my wife, singlehandedly kept several stores in business, now I can't think of the last time she bought clothes at a B&M. Outside of food I rarely buy anything locally either.

Most major retailers have them. They typically don’t do all that. Usually they sit in a camera room and call the police if anything goes down. He was stupid for confronting them. Just let them go and let police handle it. It’s not worth the fight.
