Do you floss before or after you brush?

I’ve always flossed, then brushed, but was just told I’ve been doing it backwards.

I probably floss first.

I floss first because it loosens up plaque and other build up then my brush takes care of the rest.

I've always flossed first. Seems like I'd break up any loose debris and then brush and rinse and get rid of most of it.

The only floss that touches my teeth is when my hygienist does it for me

This question is one of The Pick Up Artists’ pick up lines - supposedly a good intro technique

Sonicare. Actually use Plax first, then sonicare, then floss.

floss several times a day, after meals more substantial than grits or custard. keeps the gum disease away that results in extractions and 5000$ implants

Mine flosses first and I've never had a cavity.

Flossing last makes no sense.

Brushing will get rid of anything the flossing knocked loose.

Floss first.

My dentist told me it doesn’t really matter but said you don’t sweep after you mop, right? Had to think about it for a second.

This came up before and ashocking number of posters admitted to never flossing. A third of Americans never floss. That’s fricking disgusting.

If you floss either way you're probably ok.

There is no evidence flossing helps your teeth. One study indicates it may help your gums but other studies show it has no effect.
