Any of the weather experts in here believe that mankind is now able to 'influence' weather patterns? Obviously not control them but something like activate/enhance disturbances?

I read an article about a decade ago that made it seem like governments were getting close (mostly ours). This 2020 stuff along with the most active season ever (?) reminded me about that.

Just heard in TWC strongest winds in northern eye wall were 91 mph.

This thing is falling apart. If they "find" 91 mph in the eye that means when it gets to land they'd find about 75 mph sustained.

TWC Creole video shows trees already wind stripped by Laura.

Heartbreaking and devastating for all the good folks in SWLA.

those light purple wind barbs that are almost white will give the NHC reason to keep it around 105 or 110 at 1 PM

NWS New Orleans Tweeted it out. NWS N.O. Twitter

Maybe someone else can locate the origins as I do not see it listed in NOAA.gov/Delta link

I'll give Postel credit, he was saying the dry air and the cooler waters in the shallow shelf were doing a number on it .

No use speculating over something like that until you have facts. It's like me throwing shite on the wall hoping conspiracy theories stick. Easy to throw them out because you can't prove them.

So do they only refer to storms in terms of north and west? Hence the negative westward movement as opposed to eastward movement?

it's true though

tropical systems fuel the Southwest Monsoon... which brings a lot of rain to the desert SW
