This season has just given the finger to the northern Gulf Coast.

So western half of MS is in for more of a punch than originally projected?

Not sure what was "originally projected", but you never want to be on the east side of any projected paths along the northern GOM.

The good news with respect to track guidance is that it appears most of the ensemble members are mostly due north once they finally turn. That means that a landfall location along the northern GOM would be pretty finite 24-36 hours out (when the northern turn starts).

It didn’t quite make hurricane status at 4:00 but it won’t be long until it does.
Right now the NHC forecasts Delta to reach Cat 3 with 120 mph winds but to weaken to cat 2 before it crosses 25 north.
The eye is predicted to come very close to the NW tip if the Yucatán as a cat 3 hurricane.

I work for a power company so I am planning for how long I will be at work/getting grandparents to help with kids.

When I say originally projected, I meant that the original hooking NE would mostly miss my service territory.

Usually when they say it's coming right for us it ends up being a bright sunny day.
