Just beginning? You thought the ice would melt overnight somehow? Thursday if you’re lucky.

My workplace is running a skeleton crew for MLK holiday, then taking off both Tuesday and Wednesday. This was my weekend off, so I was getting a 3 day weekend. Now, I'm getting an unexpected five consecutive days.

That's the fun part. The payback comes next week when they implement forced 6 day weeks to make up for it. Or, maybe even dust off the old 13/1 schedule for a month or so.

It looks almost identical to the last few runs.

What are YOU seeing?

Last week, I heard someone with the local water district say that with the ground temperatures and source water that the water coming out the faucet is averaging 50 degrees right now.

From my own observation, BR water (from an aquifer) is about ten degrees warmer than NOLA water (which comes from the river).

I was out and about earlier and heard that Thibodaux will institute curfews etc.

These mother frickers just can’t help themselves with bullshite draconian restrictions. It’s absolutely infuriating to me. They are treating this like a goddamn hurricane, but the idiots can’t get a traffic light fixed that’s been out for 6 months.

The latest update I saw for Jackson is now at < 1”. I’m fine with that. I just really don’t want ice/sleet. I drive an ambulance up here, at night. It will be a shite show if we get ice.

It’s to keep from having 1000 cars in the ditch and having to have first responders tied up helping.

You think it comes straight from underground aquifers to your faucet tap?

I can’t believe we are 24 hours from a snowfall in south Louisiana and we’re looking at multiple models showing 7-12 inches of snowfall.

In college my roommate had a Jeep with full recovery gear and we would make a semesters beer money in a couple of days pulling cars and trucks out of ditches after a bog snow.

So which one is staging in everybody's hood?

So from 4.4 to 12.2 inches of snow? So basically they have no idea.

That king cake sugar is going to do nothing with the ice except make a mess on the road. Have you ever tried to mix sugar in a glass of ice cold tea.

While on the flip side, that Tony’s is full of salt and spices. It will melt the ice and leave spices on the road.

Au contraire while sugar won't be as effective as sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, or calcium chloride just like any impurity added to water you will get freezing point depression. What doesn't mix with the water will act like sand but again not as effective as sand itself.

According to all of those, West Feliciana parish is just about the edge of the northern line. We went from 4-8 inches to now “up to 2 inches”

I’d have never believed we’d get a dusting while Acadiana gets half a foot
