Looking st traffic cameras in BR, why is the old bridge crystal clear and the new bridge still a disaster? State highways look fine. The interstate is fubar.

Schools closed again tomorrow, makes sense. My question is do we think schools open on Friday?

I don't see them opening Friday. There will be more refreeze Thursday night.

Over the weekend heard a Met on 870 say we’ll be above freezing Wed so we should be back to normal Thursday.

What do we think the roads will look like in Baton Rouge this afternoon around 4:00pm? Trying to see if it would be okay to drive then. I know overnight this evening they will freeze again.

We will only have a few hours above freezing today after a very hard freeze last night. Ice will be everywhere. Stay off the roads. Tomorrow afternoon should be more plausible, but it may be Friday before most roads are passable

From Perkins and Acadian, would it be safe to drive towards Dalrymple and through LSU campus to try and go to levees over there? Kids are wanting to go slide down but I think it’s too dangerous to try and drive through campus where trees have road shaded.

Just cleaned out a few gutters and getting a decent melt. Still in awe at what I'm seeing.

My tiny arse barely traveled road is almost melted so I assume more well-traveled roads are becoming fine right now and should stay that way until tonight.

Semi-pro tip for anyone wondering if they have plumbing issues. You can have problems now (a burst pipe) and not know it, especially if it is a hydrant. It would have burst and froze quickly, and being away from the other fixtures it wouldn't be noticeable with the ice plugging the busted line. As soon as it warms above freezing that ice plug will melt, and you'll know. You'll have an immediate drop in water pressure and will probably hear/feel the vibrations of a rush of water. That is when the panic sets in and your arse catches a high gear quicker than you thought possible.

Yeah, I've been there, and I'm hoping I'm not there again today. We dropped to 7° last night.

Most water meters have a dial on it. Mine is a little red triangle. If any water is moving through the meter that triangle will turn, even if its just a dripping faucet. If you are using a lot of water like for a washing machine it will spin so fast its a blur.

If nobody is using any water in your house (flushed a toilet etc) and that dial isnt moving you dont have a burst pipe, if the pipes are not still frozen. If all faucets are working they arent frozen.

Mine is like this.

I just drove in from out of state. Slept in Shreveport last night. 49 was decent, over passes were slick. Around Bunkie I put it in 4wd.

190 is drivable albeit there were still some sketchy spots.

I wouldn’t have felt comfortable letting my wife drive that alone.
