I think people from Portugal are categorized as "Hispanic" now as well. Which is kind of silly because they don't speak Spanish.

But there is still usually a place to check you're hispanic on the applications. And it results in lower entrance requirements versus if you just say white Caucasian.

This is what I'm getting at. My son speaks Spanish has brown hair and brown eyes with an Italian last name that gets mistaken for Hispanic all the time. The only stereotype he doesn't meet is his height. He's kind of tall at 6'3". He could pass as Hispanic pretty easily. I just don't know if that's the "right" thing to do. Seems like the definition is so subjective it really doesn't matter.

Lol, I know several Hispanic people who are blond haired and blue eyed. Just because they're Hispanic doesn't mean they're a Guatemalan Indian.

Can we see some substantive metrics on the "advantage" you are referring to?
Can we compare the actual data on this "advantage" vs preferences for legacy applicants and other forms of nepotism?

What's "right" in this life of dog eat dog competition for scarce resources (best possible job/status/wealth, etc.) is to take advantage of ALL opportunities to gain the upperhand over all other competitors.
What's NOT "right"? Allowing advantages to go to the competition and thus losing some of the potential to excel beyond all others.
When the rules change allowing men to be women and such, use those rule changes to maintain advantages. Adapt or die.
I'm currently a trans gendered homosexual Polynesian Islander female until it benefits me to be something else.

I wasn't referring to anything specific however this the the first result I got after googling.
So your chances of being accepted into medical school are MUCH higher if you identify as a Hispanic or Black minority.
