Let me know when your house is up for auction so I can buy it and flip it.

Just a mortgage. No car payments, no credit card debt, no student loans (thanks G.I. Bill).

If it weren’t for student loans we’d be good outside a very manageable mortgage.

In my younger years I went over 10k in credit debt while on an internship that barely covered my bills. That shite was tough to dig out of. Took me like 8 years to pay it off. I was trying to pay as much as possible and then when something came up i'd have to use the card again and could never get out from under it. Ended up putting it on a low interest card and saving for a year while paying the minimum. once i had a safety net of cash built up i knocked it out. I couldn't imagine being 100k in credit debt.

ETA: my bills are under $500 a month now

Not all debt is created equal. I have mortgage at extremely low rate so will never pay off early, and anything I can get 0% interest on I do. Use their capital so I can get return on mine.

Anything with a normal interest gets paid off monthly.

Buy a foreclosure and fix it up. Bank owned home would do too.
