My wife had some type of physiological event several years ago. She was at work and had severe confusion and memory loss. It only lasted 30 to 60 mins. An MRI said no TIA but it was something because since then she has had crippling depression and anxiety. That's all post-episode. I don't understand it and I'm an insufficient source of help no matter how hard I try to be supportive. Anxiety is a real thing. Walk it off is what I'm thinking in the back of my mind but apparently with real anxiety that's not a solution.

Calibrate your hyperbole meter.

The point is there is a role for resilience in mental health.

Someone close to me has it. I wish it was fake, because it's frustrating AF to deal with. It causes this person to have disordered thoughts so that simple tasks are impossible. For nearly a year she couldn't drive. She just started back recently and it's a big accomplishment, even though it's terrifying for her.

Some people probably do use it as an excuse, but there's no mistaking someone who really has it.

Know how I know you've never experienced true anxiety? This statement.

True anxiety cannot be fully understood until you experience it. And it's not anything near the same thing as simple everyday stress. Anxiety that includes panic attacks can be completely debilitating.

You should watch untold: breaking point on Netflix. It’s about tennis player Mardy fish and his trouble with anxiety. It can happen to anyone, even the most fit people in the world. It comes out of nowhere and stays forever. There are ways to deal with it, but it will never go away.

Sometimes. At other times she can't do anything but crawl into bed. I'd say it severely affects her about 20% of the time. She (and meds) handles it and functions normally the other 80%. I still believe she had a stroke I don't care what the doctors say.

Certainly sounds like it. That’s tough, man. You sound like a good dude for hanging in there with her.
