Sure there is. If Chinese et al wages were just the difference between Union and non-Union wages your point would be useful. The difference between even non-Union and Chinese wages was HUGE, less so today.
If it was just or primarily Unions the manufacturing would have just moved to areas without unions.
Yes, while the difference in wages are large you also have to consider how large the financial stress is to move an entire manufacturing process. It could be that without unions companies wouldn't have spent millions moving their operation and paying extra in transportation cost to get product back to US. Now if you are going to move shop completely and build a whole new facility you might as well go to where labor is cheapest which is why I would imagine they didn't move to southern states.

Unions and technological advances are the two biggest contributors.

Unions definitely didn't help the situation, but the truth is that most manufacturing was leaving no matter what. Consumers want good prices, and the only way companies can make money is to farm out labor to Malaysia where you can pay someone a dollar a day to sew blue jeans. No American worker can compete with that.

Otherwise, why didn't the majority of US manufacturing move to the southern US where there are Right to Work laws?
Where have all the auto plants been built the past 30 years?

I'd say they may have hastened it, but not what caused it. The relentless pursuit of increasing quarterly profits is what caused it. Unions just made the day where it is cheaper to put it on a boat on the other side of the planet than to build it here happen sooner.

Don’t forget 5 day work week, over time, benefits.

Sure. If we didn’t have them we’d be like China with all the manufacturing. We’d also get paid like the Chinese and so would our kids.

No, shareholder greed is what killed manufacturing jobs. Their drive for bigger profits moved plants out of the US. The democrats didn't help with the raising of taxes and taxing every fricking thing they can.

You are failing to account for the huge money China and the Chinese company they had to partner with put up. A 50% drop in labor costs wouldn't have been enough to keep most companies here.

Labor conditions immediately following the Industrial Revolution were horrible.
I have some bad news about labor conditions immediately before the Industrial Revolution and extending to the beginning of time

The stock market did. Have to show profit growth, at some point you have to cut costs in manufacturing to achieve that.

Why pay someone $200 an hour plus benefits plus WEEKS paid vacation when you can pay someone $10 a hour and get the same quality of work.
Pretty fricking stupid.

Obviously unions were needed to fight for the average work in the early 1900's but did they outlast their initial purpose and cause jobs to leave the US?
Absolutely.

Nope. Greed. Capitalist greed. No regard for workers. Hell work 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, no sick time, and complain and you got your arse kicked in 1900’s by company goons. You died they threw you out the window and continued on. Hell, most of world was build on slaves(white, black, purple) since beginning of time. Elite have never cared about working class and they still wouldn’t if unions weren’t still around. Just check out most 3rs world countries. You go work in China in those shithole factories.
