I see Idaho has joined 4 other states that have adopted the old fashioned firing squad to carry out death penalty executions.
Sure wish this trend would come to Louisiana. Only the Death Penalty will deter many of the murders we see in our larger cities like Baton Rouge, New Orleans, etc.
Time to clean house in Louisiana. There are several animals on death row and have been hanging around for 20-30 years or so.
What say you?

I would ask you when was the last execution in LA, and why would the method make a difference since it's been well over a decade?

We haven’t had an execution in quite a while because we have been unable to source drugs for lethal injection.

Firing squad or hanging are considered constitutional IIRC so just use them to sub for injection.

baton rouge can't even keep the thugs in jail for more than 72 hours, they'll never convict anyone to a firing squad death lol, unless it's white trash maybe

Not sure the specifics but they could easily use different drugs etc. Not sure of the red tape they would have to go through to change the protocols though.

Ridiculous excuse.

Texas, Florida, Missouri and Oklahoma did in Q1 of 2023. Mississippi, Arizona and Alabama did it in 2022.

Our actual issue is the endless number of appeals, not the method of execution. Most never even get through all their appeals.

I say public hangings or the guillotine should be used. Let the world see and broadcast it. Maybe that might curb some of the animals running around br or Nola. Doubt it, but you never know. If it saves one life…..

It has never worked in the past 100,000+ years to deter violent crime. What has you thinking that it would suddenly work now?

While it may not necessarily deter them, it will definitely cleanse our communities of them a little at a time. Right now we just vomit them back onto the streets to continue to turn kids into orphans and mothers into vilomahs

They need an automatically activated machine gun, bolted in place to hit a heart area on the chair where the condemned would sit. They could strap the criminal in place with a shirt having a big red dot sewn on the front upper left side, then use laser focus with one of those little red dots to sight the gun in place after they had him snuggly belted into "the chair of good-by".

Then they could all leave the room and play the Great White Shark music from "Jaws" for four to six minutes before activating the machine gun. Using a silencer on the gun would be nice, so that all the condemned guy would hear would be the Dump, Dump, Dump-Dump-Dump. I would have no problem if they played it for five to ten minutes before activating the machine gun. A nice touch might be to put a push button in his hand so that he could do it to himself if he got tired of the music.

They could use a faulty electrical connection on the push button so it might work when depressed or it might by iffy and not make contact for the first ten or fifteen pushes, only activating a recorded message that says, "Sorry, we are having technical problems, try again in a minute or two.

Would make for a great public execution. CNN, NBC, Fox, ABC, and CBS could be allowed to show it on TV as a "This does not deter crime segment".

You're suggesting that excessive cost has prevented LA executions in the last 1.5 decades?

We disagree, but yours is a bold take.

The red tape is exactly why States use these drugs for executions. States were pushed into "humane" executions by way of lethal injections using specific drugs, because the activists knew that by doing so they could control the access to these drugs.

Problem with firing squads and guillotines is you need people to operate them. Who do you recruit for these jobs?
