I worked in that building in the mid to late 80s. Jekyll & Hyde's restaurant and bar were on the first floor. There was slime oozing from the walls of our office, supposedly a combination of black mold and asbestos insulation. We had valet parking because the garage was too tight to allow people to drive their own cars. Morris Bart's office was there. I remember waiting with him for our cars to be delivered. We sometimes called it the the antenna farm as MCI, Sprint, and AT&T as well as radio stations all utilized the building's roof, which was the tallest building in N.O. for a while.

Plaza Tower should countersue the parents for poor parenting.
Sorry their kid is dead.
The kid obviously knew he was entering a potentially dangerous environment, on property he had no authority to be on, that had no electricity and would be dark, stairs would be involved, he would be trespassing as posted by signage and still made the CHOICE to enter where forbidden.
His poor choice would appear to be the primary factor in his death.
Using the “Butfor” evaluation of the situation, butfor his entering where forbidden, his death would not have occurred.
Again, sorry he is dead but the property owners and everyone else being sued did not cause his death.

I know there's people on here close to the family but is there a sadder selfish look at me endeavor than holding a press conference to announce you are suing for your kids bad choices?

Yup. And if he had been caught by police and charged before he got killed, they would say the system is being to hard on the boy and he “didndonutin!” but he would still be alive

I sure as hell didn’t enter a condemned building and go up multiple multiple stairwells with no railings. Kid was an idiot.

Sometimes lawyers are like predators, they lie and wait for the right time. That is why there is a two year prescription on car accidents.
They just wait out the two years of haggling with insurance and the lower the lawsuit banner at the last second. Most of the time they wait so any evidence that could have cleared a defendant is gone or forgotten to memory. That way the plaintiff’s narrative is heard loudest and the defendant/insurance company is boxed into a corner and forced to settle.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. Don't listen to the nasty folks. I did dumb stuff as a kid and I'm sure everyone else here did, too. No one one deserves to die for it.

Nobody's kids are perfect. However, if mine broke into a building and some happened, my first reaction wouldn't be to sue someone. It was his fault and nobody elses

kids do dumb shite I surely did. That doesn’t eliminate the possibility that dumb shite could be fatal, and certainly doesn’t transfer the liability for dumb shite to anyone else
