When I was a young buck, I was stationed at Loring, AFB, ME, we rented a house at an old missile site. We went explored abandoned building and silos for days.

Yeah, I "actually" did. You said it's in the middle of the CBD, you can tell from this pic it's not... It pretty much sits by itself.

drop that thing like a silo/smokestack across the train station parking lot.

I never heard of this eyesore before I rode the train over in the spring.

I had never had a hurricane before either - good stuff.

It's not that old, besides the skyline hasn't changed in years...

Better?

I lived in that exact area, based on the missing buildings, it’s pretty damn old

The point still remains that it is not in the “middle” of the cbd

Skyline has changed in that area alone within just the past 5 years

One of the most expensive buildings to live in is directly across the street now.

I was a teenager and did a bunch of stupid shite. Climbing the stairs in this building was a fricking Darwin move.

It’s not the same place it was two decades ago. Neither is any of the things mentioned in this thread.

You’re correct. That was all done in the late 2000s. But being just about last in education, I’m not surprised the bright and informed minds of Louisiana still trot out the asbestos thing.

Came across a Instagram account a few weeks back with a couple recording themselves fricking all around the building. Including the rooftop

But why?!

There’s an entire Instagram subculture of abandoned urban explorers.

Some of us are dumb because of all the asbestos and lead paint used schools. Then we had the formaldehyde scare from the FEMA trailers.

As bad as asbestos can be, what about all the granite and other radioactive stone that people put in their homes.
