re: Dear people who live in tiny houses

tiny houses and RVs have their place; but as with anything, there are people who do it wrong and for the wrong reasons.

I am living in a spot i designed in my backyard, at the alleyway, in MT, in a truck camper, because my house here is rented for the summer.

It's a small space, but has a slideout diner, full bath, king bed, full kitchen, etc. we just don't sit around inside much except to work and usually we do that outside too.

I'm redesigning the whole thing now to be more independent and private from the main house, and offer more living space. for $3-4k, i'm having a new 8'X or 10'x16' hickory lofted barn with metal roof and double-pane windows delivered and set up on the site. Then i'm adding an extension of the roof, to the back fence, that will cover a 22' Airstream, and will double as a rooftop patio with view of the mountains.

The doorway to the Airstream will connect with a sliding side door i'm building in the barn.

The barn will have electricity and maybe a wood stove. No plumbing at all. I'll finish it out nicely myself for just a few hundred bucks. The Airstream will be the powerplant and guts. The barn will offer living space, bedroom, storage, cover for the camper, possibly wood or other heat, and privacy from the house. And a separate area in which to fart. You'll enter from the alleyway which has a parking spot, and there is a little garden area and trellis, so it's like adding an entire new house + non-trashy R/V storage.

I'm not independently wealthy--or at all wealthy--so you have to get creative to avoid living in an office and still have some stability.
