DC: Teacher Sexually Assaulted on Video - Teacher Punished

Caught on camera: Teacher sexually assaulted inside DC charter school, put on unpaid leave
WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A DC elementary teacher was sexually assaulted on campus in the middle of a large room. The attack was caught on camera. In a twist, the charter school the teacher worked for switched her to unpaid leave for the rest of the school year.
“All of a sudden, I felt someone smacking my behind. I stood up, bewildered, looked over and I put out my hands. I'm not sure what I said. ‘No. Stop.’ But it was a moment of shock for me. Then, all of a sudden, there was a hand reaching underneath my skirt. As the woman said, I want to finger your [redacted]. Again, I started backing away. I said ‘no.’ And then she made sort of a lunging motion at me and grabbed my breasts,” recalled Garbee.

Not sure what to say about that. I do like that the other lady’s lawyers defense was that his client “was on PCP, Marijuana and alcohol during the event.” That’s some good lawyering right there.

So she chose not to go back after the assault and they did not pay her for not being there. They then put her on unpaid leave because she missed work. I can absolutely understand her not wanting to go back but should she have open ended paid leave until she wants to return?

I'd assume she accrues PTO and sick time like most other teachers. DC system may run differently. Couple tat with a doctor's recommendation to take leave for her mental health, and I'm not really sure how the determination was made to switch her over to unpaid.
Obviously need more info than what we'll likely get.

Apparently they told her she was on paid leave and pulled a switcharoo on her.

This is absurd. If this happened to a Black Teacher, there would be riots. It is sad, this is the world we live in...
