Here’s the fundamental problem with gun control in America
It’s very very likely that the types of laws that would materially reduce gun violence and mass shootings (complete ban on most firearms, very strict handgun regulations compete with licensing, storage laws, etc) are in violation of the second amendment.
The types of laws that wouldn’t really do much (Magazine Regs, universal checks) are probably constitutional
What this means is that before you even begin to try to enact effective gun laws, you need to repeal the 2nd amendment
Need 2/3 of congress or 2/3 of state legislatures to propose the amendment to repeal the 2nd
Need 3/4 of state legislatures or 3/4 of delegates at state conventions to ratify the new amendment
45 states have the right to bear arms in their own state constitutions
The idea that 38 states will vote to ratify an amendment abolishing the 2nd amendment is absurd.
I can think of 8-10 states max that would go along with it.

Which mass shooting aside from Vegas couldn't have been accomplished with pistols? Shooting up a bar or a Walmart doesn't exactly require a rifle.

Yes, I read that he killed his sister and her boyfriend first in a car somewhere. I can't imagine having your son do this and finding out that he killed your daughter too. Very sad.

Gun control laws or regulations do not mean repealing the second amendment. Stop making “slippery slope” arguments. You should have learned in high school that that is a juvenile and uneducated logical fallacy.

In 1991 the mass shooting at luby's cafeteria in Texas, was I think done with a pistol. He killed over 20 people.

The Virginia Tech shooter used pistols too. He killed 33.
