Years ago a friend of mine asked me to pick him up because he had a surprise. We end up at a bar where all the windows were blacked out and no advertisements. Once we paid to get inside there was David Allen Coe. He played for around four hours. His stuff, HankSr, Hank Jr, George Jones, CCR, etc. it was awesome.

He demands that the air conditioner be turned off an hour before the concert starts.
Jam 1000 rednecks into any night club in the south and then kill the a/c, yeah I'll pass.
Well the Texas Club didn’t honor his request circa 1990 cause the AC was on full blast and he put on a good show.
You should’ve been there, it was fun.
And air conditioned.

Saw him at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach circa 2003 or so. The worst live show I've ever seen.

I saw him play at the Thomas Assembly Center(La Tech bball gymnasium) in ‘95. One of the fraternities brought him in. Supposedly it only cost around $1000, a hotel room, and a bottle of whiskey to get him to play. He did a whole show for what I remember.

Country DJ’s knows that I’m an outlaw.
They’d never come to see me in this dive.
Where bikers stare at cowboys who are laughing at the hippies who are praying they get out of here alive.

Saw him at one of the country music fests in B.R. with Willie and Asleep at the Wheel. Great concert until I got sick. Nothing like throwing up jambalaya and a nose full of rice.

Hell show up an hour or more late for a show because he's getting drunk gambling at the tables. Comes out plays three or four songs , and storms off. No refund.
My brother got to meet him once at some hole in the wall bar he was playing. He quickly discovered DAC is a complete a-hole jerk. I still like his music, but by all accounts he’s a real piece of shite.

We used to fight there a lot when it was Robert E Lee's.
I guess it was our version of Gilley's

Doug the owner was wild!

I saw him at the Texas club, not sure about the date but the same as you describe. Good show, but he was definitely unfiltered and profane. Lots of N bombs dropped that night.

I was there for that one. Don’t remember much, but I was present.

Saw him once at the Texas Club. It was enough. Heard many stories about other live performances. He does not sound like a very nice guy.
