There are also a lot of people who think they are really good with money and too smart for Dave Ramsey....and they are not.

Never understood the concept of a timeshare. Just rent a place out off the internet? Is this not the exact same concept without being locked into a contract for x amount of years?

That doesn’t make Dave Ramsey the answer to the problem

I don't get why Dave is such a polarizing figure. If you don't like him, don't listen or watch him. It's that simple.

I don't understand why people berate the man for trying to help people help themselves by handling finances better.

I listen to him quite a bit. Not really for financial advice, but for the entertainment factor. Oh, and also to boost my self esteem because I'm better off than 90% of the callers.

Hes not for everyone. I'd even call him a financial extremist.

Some people need those guard rails. Some do not. I don't hate on those that do, but don't want to hear about it any more than I want to hear about Crossfit or your kids travel ball.

"I have gained financial freedom through only having 30 dollars a month in discretionary spending"

fricking shoot me

I agree 100%. I’ve never seen a place brag so much about being ballers, call everything under the sun trashy, but defend Dave Ramsey to the moon and back. What a combination.

It's not an all or nothing scenario and I don't know why you act like it is. If the advice he gives is as bad as you say then why does he have the following he does? As stated again and again and again in this thread, his advice is valuable to a certain segment of people. Obviously you don't fit that group, good for you, but you not fitting in that group doesn't make him 100% bad as you want him to be. He's not all good, nor is he all bad, people challenging your opinion that he's all bad isn't irrational.

So if "defending" him means acknowledging that he is good for some and not for others, then so be it.

That doesn’t make his listeners stupid, either. No one here is saying he has all the answers. You, however, infer that he doesn’t have any at all. Why? He’s not giving bad advice. It’s just bad for you. But for many, it’s beneficial.
And whether you like him or not, he has helped people to get out of debt. You just don’t agree with the manner in which they did it.

Time shares are so stupid. Room temp iq would have told you they are a bad idea.

A lot of people pay Dave Ramsey for a BS endorsement to help their sales out.

I'm Jane Doe, I have no idea what I'm doing but you should listen to my advice because I pay Dave Ramsey money.
