So you want her to get less of an education?
No... I am just happy that she wanted to see LSU. She is headed to NOLA tomorrow to tour Tulane. I have lots of family in NO, BR, and Thib. She would have fam nearby if she left Ga for either but like I said GT leads and at least she’d be close to home.

I wouldn’t try to flip my kid from Georgia tech. Much better school

What was her thoughts on the Library?

It seems like after a few years of experience nobody gives a shite where you went to school.
Of course there are exceptions

Free undergrad tuition thanks to in state TOPS scholarships for LSU vs massive out of state tuition at GT.
You tell me, especially if the person knows they want to pursue a graduate or professional degree.

Outside of the elite schools does it really matter much from a career standpoint?
Get a head start from a better school but 10 years down the road it’s not a big deal
ETA: also depends if you want to stay in Louisiana or move where the better jobs are

GT is a million times better than LSU
Link to those stats.
I mean USN ranks Tech at #35 and LSU at #140... that is more than just a rounding error.

I know people in BR.
I can get your daughter the hook-up on a place to live near campus.
Let me know and I’ll make it happen.

GLT is right and it also helps your offers as well.
For an Engineer it can be 5-10k or more difference.

I know GA Tech is known for engineering but if you are an accountant are you much better off?
Considering their business school is top 30, yeah it makes a difference.

It's absolutely a big deal if you could never get an interview at places out of college.

frick all the haters.
An LSU education can take you to the very highest levels of business, industry and government service.
Hubert Humphrey was Vice President of the United States.
James Carville was the #1 political adviser to President William Jefferson Clinton.
Bill Conti had #1 song AND won the Oscar for best song for the Theme to Rocky (Gonna Fly Now)
James Andrews has, for decades, been the #1 most sought out orthopedic surgeon for American athletes.
Marty Sixkiller was technical director for Shrek (1 & 2), Over the Hedge, etc.
Maxime Faget, from an engineering side, is probably second only to Von Braun in the history of the manned U.S. space program.
Major General (later Lieutenant General) Thomas Rhame led the 1st Infantry Division ("The Big Red One") during Operation Desert Storm.
Rebecca Wells (also, coincidentally my 6th or 7th cousin) is the award winning writer of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood books.
Carlos Flores was the President of Honduras
Particularly NASA, oil exploration and athletics, we've had scores and scores, many household names.
frick...the...haters.

Environmental Engineering? I told her companies like Chevron, BP etc. would be an option if she wanted to go in that direction. She lives here in Ga and I have fam that have attended Tech. She loved the Tech tour. I guess we shall see. Starts senior year in few weeks.

After I had a decent amount of work experience I got recruited by a number of out of state companies. A few Fortune 500. I don't think it really hurt me that my degree is from LSU vs insert any other non Ivy League or extremely prestigious university. I'm not talking about Princeton here keep in mind.
